The student body was proud to have had Miss Lynn Whitehurst as their queen. Lynn and her court, which consisted of Miss Sundra Daniels. Miss Betsy Brun- son, Miss Nita Calhoun, Miss Julie Mauldin, and Miss Patty Williams, were selected by their fellow classmates to reign over the festivities. On Friday morning. October 13, the coronation of iihe queen was held in Tiger stadium. She was crowned by Perry Fuller, senior class president. Michael Henne. vice-president of the senior class, assisted by Todd Westbrook. Mark Bowers. Phillip Brown. Kelvin Belcher, and Mason Morrow, presented flowers to the queen and her court. Excitement filled the air as everyone began doing last minute preparations for the entries in the parade. The floats were judged and the eighth grade float. “Tigers are Expecting a Victory.” took the honor of first place. The judges truly had a hard decision to make, for all the entries were creative and exemplified the spirit of homecoming. The mighty Elba Tigers took on the Ashford Yellow jackets for the homecoming game. Much to light of the Elba fans, the Tigers walked away with 41-6 victory. Horsing around and cutting up seems to be an integral part of each year’s staff, as do waiting until the last minute and then racing to meet a deadline. But in between the headaches and fights with the editor, the staff always manages to produce a fine yearbook. When the final copy is complete and everybody is friends again, only the good times arc remembered and the hard work is forgotten. This year’s Annual Staff promises that all their time and effort has produced the best yearbook ever, the 1979 Elbala! 46 - ACTIVITIES EDITORS Angie Webber and Brenda Lee ORGANIZATIONS EDITORS l.yndi Smart and Anita Mobk) SPONSOR Mrs. Helen McCollough ASSISTANT EDITOR Perry Fuller EDITOR-IN-CHIEF Michael Henne 49 BUSINESS MANAGER Cindy Allen TREASURER Susie Bruce PHOTOGRAPHERS Johnny Vaughan. The adventures they have experienced along the way will always be remembered. This group’s eleventh year began with the excitement of ordering class rings. What seemed to be a relatively easy task ended up taking long hours of searching until the right ring was found. After all the rings had come in. the choices seemed to be satisfactory as was seen by the smiling faces and flashing hands! Homecoming meant lots of work for the dedicated juniors who put together a prize-winning float. Winning second place made all the exhausting work worthwhile. Full schedules brought lots of study for most juniors They held on to the fact that those college prep courses would help in the long-run and success brought a real thrill. The Juniors had reached a point in their education when the road ahead was considerably shorter than the road behind As their last year approached, they found themselves standing on the threshold of their senior year, eagerly awaiting the challenges of the future. l.ynn Adcock Mil i Allen Danny Baxley Rusty Beck Tint Blackmon Donna Hiudsvsorth Jon Bludsworth Don Boothe ‱ Janet Boswell Keith Boutwcll Rachcllc Bo cman Ray Brooks Richard Brown Suwn Rrucckncr Betty Brunson l.aWaync Chappell Mark Clark Tommy Clark Velvet Coleman Dixie Coppage 89 Kenneth Harmon Donna llart Jeff Hatcher Sharon Henderson Terev Hodge Carol Holt Jamie Hudion Jan Hudson d - , Kathy Kelley Lori Kelley Ronnie Kelley Man King Patrnha Lawrence Vaughan Lee Steve Maddox If the I Magwood ■ l harlc Mallory Mike Marlcr kaihy Marshall Billy Marx Marx McKcn ic Cindy Miller Virginia Modlin David Morrow Kerry NcUon Bobby Newton Valaric Ogg Tammy Padgett Rhonda Pope Mike Reave Sandra Reynold Patricia Roger David Smart Pamela Smith Demte Syke Ruby Till ■MM Debbie Waldoa Charles Wamble' Jan W'ecks ( ynthu W'hatley Melissa Wilkerson Pam Wilkerson Rufus Williams Johnny Williamson NOT PICTURED Doniu Brown Michael Brunson Anthony Coleman Jimmy Coleman Andrew Daniels James Gibbs Cherylc Mane hey Willie Mead Tony Johns Glen Johnson Charlie Jordan Emma l.ec Janet Locket Gary Mills Roben Robinson Felicia Smith Sharon Thigpen Sarah Tillis Wanda Walker l onus Ware Roger Ware Todd Westbrook Dan Wise Ashley Young i a. .... .
