Organization and Enthusiasm Homecoming Spirit. . . Elba High was alive with it from the first preparations to the end. This spirit originated from the long hard hours of work in anticipation of Homecoming Day. The Student Council had the enormous task of coordinat- ing all activities for Homecoming. This year’s honored class was the Class of ’43. The festivities officially began with the bonfire and Pep Rally Thursday night on the track field. The action continued Friday morning with the coronation of the Homecoming Court, followed by the traditional parade that afternoon. The winners in the float competition were: first place, the 7th grade’s Tiger Volkswagen; second place, “Tigers Can Do Anything” from the 10th grade; third place, the 9th grade’s “Walking Tall.” Winners of the school club cars were as follows: first place to the Pep Club; second place to the French Club; and third place to the Science Club. ae Fi ew The events were climaxed Friday night with an exciting game against the Trojans from Charles Henderson High School. After the game, students and alumni attended the semi-formal dance until mi dnight. ir,

Every high school girl dreams of being honored by her fellow classmates with the title of Homecoming Queen. For Kathy Bowers, the dream came true. Her bright smile and friendly personality lent a warm glow to the Homecoming activities. The Senior Class selected the lovely Brenda Spann as their court attendant. Theresa Crook was chosen to represent the Juniors. Delisa Smith held the honor of Sophomore Class attendant, and Connie Carpenter was voted Freshman Class Attendant. Friday morning, the Queen was coro- nated in a beautiful and impressive coro- nation ceromony in which the band and ROTC performed. Jack Brunson, Student Council President, crowned Kathy and presented her flowers before the student body. The attendants were also presented flowers by representatives from their respective classes. In the parade, the Homecoming Court rode the beautiful Queen’s float planned and built by the Seniors. KATHY BOWERS, 1973 HOMECOMING QUEEN
