In the first quarter Elba jumped to the lead when Farris ran 30 yards for the first T. D. In the second quarter Farris came back with another Flowers made the last score inthe third quarter, making it 19-2 in favor of our home team. The Tigers then went to Dothan, but the mighty Dothan boys rolled a 27 to 2 victoryover Elba. The Tigers could never penetrate Dothan's defense in scoring territory. Elba defeated Luverne on the local gridiron. Farris scored twice, Connor once and Devane scooped up a deflected pass which brought the final score to 26 to 6. The next defeat for Elba came from the strong Opp team. The 13 points for the Tigers, made by Flowers and Connor, were not quite enough to match the 20 points of their opponents. The big game of the season, Elba vs Enterprise, ended in favor of the Tigers for the first time in 22 years.” Brunson's touchdown in the first quarter helped the boys off to a good start; however, at the half the score was tied 6 to 6. In the last minutes of the game Farris ran over for a touchdown and made the extra point. Final score 20-19. The third defeat of the season was handed Elba by Florala. The scrappy Covington County Team held the Tigers 13 to 0 at the half time and Flowers' only score in the second half plus the extra point by De- vane brought the final score 13 to 7. The Tigers defeated the weak but determined Hartford eleven, 26 to 0 at Hartford. Farris tallied the first touchdown. Connor and Flo- wers followed suit. The Elba Tigers journeyed to Greenville to suffer a 52 to 12 loss. The Tigers tried but were unable to stop the mighty eleven. Farris scored the first touchdown and Devane then caught a pass from Flowers to make the other. Bounding back from the defeat by Greenville, the Elba Tigers rolled over Geneva 15to0inthe Elba High School Homecoming Day Encounter With an underdog team playing inspired ball, the Elba Tigers defeat- ed the Ozark eleven 13 to 7 to bring a successful season to a halt with 6 wins and 4 losses. Total number of points marked up by the Tigers were 151 while the opponents scored only 144.
