it fl ug pu-1 ii- -.1-Q -ir This is Elba Central School from September 1953 until June 195A-a pictorial record, arranged in chronological sequence, of our activities, classes, and teachers from the opening on an average morning to the closing at night. The day begins at 7:30 when the busses rumble from the garage. From every part of the community the students are delivered to the school door, and before eight o'clock the hall is alive with students, informally talking over the forth-coming events amidst the din of slam ing lockers and the blare of the study hall television set. At 8:20 homeroom bell echoes through the hall, noses are counted, and announcements made. Now first period: band, chorus, or student council demand attention. Again the bell sounds and students as well as faculty settle down to a day of classes. From II:0O to I:0O the mob of six hundred twenty four students and thirt four teachers shuffles through the cafeteria Y to refuel. Then comes a break--to rest, to finish that incom- plete homework, or to participate in intramural sports. Back to books until 2:h5, tenth period--the period for club meet- ings, assemblies, and lab work. Finally school is dismissed, at least for some. Others train for basketball, football, or whatever Sport is in season. School is closed for the dinner hour, but soon the lights are on again. Plays, dances, sports, or movies dominate the evening hours. At last the lights are out and the doors are locked. Shortly the cycle will begin again. This is a day in our school. . Np.5 lffql.
