Within the structure of the student government was the ever needed Executive Council which was appointed by ASB President Steve Curtis. This group of young executives was responsible for the general activities and workings of the entire student body. The officers and their duties were the following: Ron Randall, Commissioner of Activities, was responsible for booking and organizing all assemblies, Steve Fahy, Commissioner of Sports, related the events and problems of the entire athletic program to the student bodyg Gayle Murray, Commissioner of Publicity, informed the school, parents, and community of all school activities, Cindi McMillan, Commissioner of Pep and Morale, provided everyone with school spirit through the rallies and pep club presentations. The Executive Council was truly a vital part of the student government of El Segundo High School.

Below: A leader among men is able to delegate work. Hogwash' says Mike Jellison, l'll do it myself, ESHS's most active group this year was Student Council supervised by Mr. Peterson, whose interest and concern encouraged an active Student Government. Student Council started with a bang when Steve Curtis was elected ASB president a year ago. Serving with Steve for the 197 1-1972 school year were Vice President, Mike Jellison and Secretaries, Janice Meredith and Lynn Wendell, and Treasurer, Sharon Olson. These officers along with the Senate and the Executive Council comprised El Segundo's active, effective Student Council. The council did more than approve requistions for money and requests for dances and activities. Saturdays and after school, they sanded and painted the bleachers blue and gold. They revised rules for requisitions and student body business. They wrote up rules for supervisors working at games and revised rules for concession stands. They set up successful ticket collecting systems for football and basketball games. The climax of the year was the purchase and installation of a much needed new scoreboard for the football field. They also got a new marquee. Look to this day and to this school year as a year of strong, active government for the students, by the students, under strong, respected leadership. .., .... J 3. ASB Vice President Mike Jellison, was the presiding officer of the Senate this year, and helped classes organize money-making activities and Wednesday class meetings.
