mr. john stevenson Look Around! See that coach working on the field with the C-Football boys and the Varsity Baseball team? Notice how he brings the whole team togeth- er, working in harmony. This is the mark of a great coach and a true leader. Look Around. Those tro- phies that adorn our show cases are the result of the fine athletes and teams he created - athletes who are leaders in their sports, in their school, and in their community. Look Around again and notice that his leadership does not stop on the playing field, but follows him into the Freshman Social Stud- ies classroom where he makes learning fun and meaningful. Evidence of this man's leadership and ability is seen by his record as a fine athlete and stu- dent at Redondo Beach High School and later on at U.C.L.A. A coach, a teacher, and most of all, a friend to all, this man looks around and sees the students at E.S.H.S. We, the 7970 Colden Eagle Staff, proudly dedicate our annual to Mr. john Stevenson, as a symbol of our gratitude for his devotion in helping to make El Segundo a school of great athletes and leaders. School consists ofstudents and teachers, and we see them everywhere. Boys in Mr. Harden's Biology lab look for that little Eagle Spirit bug. Mrs. Potter's junior English class searches for correct answers while taking a spelling test. Terry Mueller views the campus sights through his camera as a Photography class project. Boys' Chorus croons a tune in preparation for the junior High assembly. The Tri-football Captains look for support from Eagle fans at a football rally while Ernie Schiel and Mr. Smith talk over happenings at E.S.H.S. during a lull in Woodshop. Classes - from Freshmen adjusting to high school to Sophomores looking for more spiritg from juniors pre- paring for the Prom to Seniors searching for a way of life, students make the scene at E.S.H.S. Look closely, for suddenly it is over, and only the memories remain.
