' - X X 319. K 1 Q 2 S S ed, white and blue has left us for another hundred years of orange and black. This school year, the elev- enth aniversary after the fiftieth year of our school, or perhaps more notably, the first anniversay after the sixtieth year of our school, was marked by the presence of a new assistant principal, a new senior class, a new junior class, a new sophomore class, a new freshman class and a new eighth grade class, a new United States President and more immediately, a new tardy policy which was abandoned after numerous complaints from par- ents and students. The cry that a student should not be denied an education because he is a few min- utes late to class prevailed over teachers' demands to reduce the ever-increasing number of tardies. This was not a year of land- marks or important historical events, but a year to reflect on the images and traditions which clarify and shape our existence. The en- rollment was 1,800 students, an in- crease of 200 over last year. The pencil sharpeners still work only in the typing classes and invariably fail to work in the math classes. We still have desks carved with Jose, CSR Class of '38. We did well in sports with the football team taking third place the first year they were part of the 1-AAAA District. Several track stars put us on the all-state map. ROTC's battalion commander be- came the first brigade commander for the entire city in years. And, lest we forget, 1976 was the year cafeteria lunches were served in baskets.
