H S I shall endeavor to tell you sonethlng of our classmates, all of whom were on board As we salled along we were much amused to see Dorathy Peters Parr son trylng to keep her elght sons out of the way of Junlor Wllllamson, Notre Dane's Coach, who was demonstratlng some of the maneuvers that helped his football team w1n the Blg Ten trophy th s year These same elght youngsters were also much 1nterested 1D the Blue R1bbon Bob Hllger was displaylng It was won by h1s steer, 'Fat Stuffn whlch was shown at the Internat1onal L1V9StO0k Show last wlnter Rad1o and the movles seem to have taken the1r share of our classmates Remember Fred Edwards, the usher at the little El Paso Theater? It d1dn't take him long to get started on h1s m11lion, for he is now owner of the largest theater in Chicago Next week his theater 18 showlng 'GONE WITH TH AIRH starrlng those screen sweethearts,F1eanor Desmond and Vlctor Roush. I heard B111 Dunmlre, the Hollywood Scandal Reporter, say over the radlo last week, that they have already started buildlng a new home in Beverly Hllls Oh, I forgot o mentlon that V1rg1l wood d1rect1n1 one of the biggest productlons n years. The sponsors of the radlo program, 'Br1ng uEm Home Dead written by Allen Campbell are golng to start BdV9YtlSlUg Harold CUHHLHV I ham's nLaugh and Grow Fat' reduclng tablets. It 13 surprlslng how many of our classmates have gone 1nt0 buslness There's Kenneth Barron wlth hls new IOUILOOSE bunlon cure, Betty Barney, and her Betty Watch Factory at Panola, and Loren Alt, Bob Bower, and Jesse oarr1tners, who have the A. B. k C Publxshlng Company They have Just publlshed Emma Bo1an's new book, 'How to Win and Keep Two Boy Frlends N She 1B the f6m1D1DB Dale Carnegle. Dean Bell has sold the Bell Pack1ng House 1n Peoria and he and his wife are golng to spend the next few months 1n Alaska. After they return he wlll retire just play golf and ping pong Then there's Don Burroughs, who has the 'wh18tllHg Cab Serv1ce Every time a passenger starts to critic1ze the dr1v1ng or taxi service, the patent whistler toots Once when Marlan Shepherd, recent Academy Award winner for her performance in 'Romeo and Jul1st,' was enroute to the station in Don's cab,the whlstle stuck and all the v11lagers turned out for a fxre. Foreign shores have called many of the group to fame and fortune. Perhaps I should say misfortune for Gene Dressler who is still using crutches He had a bad fall and broke his leg during a ski jumping contest in Switzerland recently Lyle Armstrong has acquired a BTit1Bh accent, and, believe it or not, he wears a monocle I d1dn't thlnk l1v1ng ln England would ever do that to him It must be n1ce to be a man of lelsure' and act as a companion to the Prlnoe of Wales. Rosemary Bennett 18 back home from India on a two month's leave from her mis sionary dutie there This is the first tlmb she has been back slnoe 1943 Betty Anne Steider is the new Secretary to the American Ambassador to Italy She says she llkes Italy fine, but the thing that bothers her is that she can't step out the door without her boots because she is always getting water in the bottom of her gondola. Evelyn Pumke and Eleanor Plnkham are in Paris now. Evelyn is deslgnlng clothes and Eleanor does the modeling They are known as E P k E P , Designer a Modeler. Classen suffered mostly from shock wh1le h1s two boys escaped injury Even though Beverly Dlers had a nervous breakdown after Albert left her wait1ng at the Noh.ren's New York Dally Tmes. Of the forty five members of the class, forty four were present 1i1s Honor, Ne1l Eft, now Mayor of E1 Paso, Ill1no1s, was unable to attend because of h1s numerous offlcial duties. The elaborate banquet was served under the capable directxon of lar garet Guard, who is a member of the Home Econcmlcs Staff of Iowa State Unlverslty Between courses several reels of Nell s.ft's 'Squeeksie' four dmenslcn cartoons were shown much to the engoyment of everyone present. Senator Rex Adams from Ill1no1s del1vered the address of the evenlng on Love and Its Advantages Dancing 1n the grand ballroom to the mus1o of Wayne Krug and his 'Beat 'Em Out' boys, featurmg Lucllle Punke, concluded the reunlon fS8t1V1tlSBe The famous Class of '40 w1ll meet in 1960 at the Hlgh School from whloh :Lt graduated Robert Guth, Pr1nc1pal of the High School,w1ll be the host I'm hoping you w1ll be present at the next reunlon that we are havmg in 1960, at the high school where we received our supposed educatlon and had a swell' tme.
