GIRL STA TERS Scholarship, leadership, conduct, and character are the basis for the selec- tion of Girl Staters. Only those students with these admirable qualities are nominated and sponsored by localcivic clubs . Glenda Carmack, Loretta Huber, and Pam Owens were the three lucky girls who attended Girls State at Kansas State University during the second week in Iune. These girls obtained knowledge concerning city, county, state, and national government. A make-believe state was established with all the offices repre- sented. In these sessions the staters run for mock state offices in bi-partisan elections . During this week the delegates learn how the government of Kansas operates . Highlights of this week included the installation of officers, the party rally, and the final banquet. Glenda Oarmack Carter Loretta Huber Bre ver Pam Owens Natalie 90
