Classes Maturity is the main difference between the freshman and the se- nior. High School is a new adven- ture for the freshman. He wants to meet new friends and become ac- quainted with the school so that he can be more involved in school functions. Since the sophomore knows his way around the building, and has become adjusted to new friends and teachers, he hrs ready to investigate new opportunities to learn. l-le may feel ready for more extra-curricular activities. The sophomore looks eagerly for his junior year. The junior is well on his way to maturity. By this time he has learned to drive a car and may even be working at a job part time. l-le assumes more responsibility and leadership. The junior feels that his senior year will be the highlight of his high school career and is there- fore quite anxious forthe beginning ofthe next school year. At last the senior has reached adulthood and his goals begin to change. Now he is beginning to think more about the future. wheth- er it be goingto on to college. taking a full time job or maybe even marriage. The high school years are the years of transition from childhood to adulthood. Thus, each year is a stepping stoneto the next.
