D E CAD Miss Brauer helps a student in her sewing class. CBD Miss SuEllen Brauer. Miss Brauer teaches algebra, mathematics, and clothing. Mr. Edward Bright. Mr. Bright teaches geom- etry, mathema ics, and general mathematics. CDD Mr. Bright explains the concept of whole numbers at the blackboard to the students. CED Miss Anderson watches as her students work on various problems in class. CFD Miss Linda Anderson. Miss Anderson teaches mathematics, general mathematics, and geometry. CGD Mr. Flake registers a happy response to a stu- dent's correct answer. CHD Mr. Berlen Flake. Mr. Flake, head of the mathematics department, teaches general mathematics, basic algebra, and algebra. Each teacher in the Eisenhower mathematics departmenthfeels that every student should study as much mathematics as the student is capable of learning. ln the future years ofthe 197O's, 1980's and 1990's mathematics, as such, will play an ever increasing role in our everyday lives and occupations. Because of this increasing role of mathematics, there has been an attempt to offer courses to several levels of achievement. lt is the belief of each teacher that our present program can, to a great extent, attain these goals. CID Mr. Ken Seidl. Mr. Seidl is in charge of the audio visual aids CAVAD at Eisenhower. He also teaches mathematics and mechanical drawing. 0 Mr. Carl Brink. Mr. Brink teaches algebra, general mathematics, and pre calcu- lus. CKD Mr. Seidl pauses a moment during one of his usual hectic days of trying to supply the teachers with the desired AVA equipment. CLD Mr. Brink is engrossed in an explanation of a calculus problem. -

Mr. Gallas teaches Ger- man, elements of communication, and intro- duction to the novel. CBD Miss Virginia Ogles. Miss Ogles teaches Spanish and elements of communication classes. CCD Miss Ogles explains how to form the endings of verbs in Spanish. CDD Mr. Gallas demonstrates the correct German pronunciation for the students. CED Mrs. Martin pauses from her daily schedule. CFD Mrs. Linda Parker. Mrs. Parker teaches French and psychol- ogy. She also sponsors the cheerleaders. CGD Mrs. Mary Ellen Martin. Mrs. Martin, head of the foreign language department, performs many duties. Her duties include teaching Latin, an- cient literature, freshman English, and the short story. Learning a foreign language has intrinsic values for all interested students, whether or not they need the language for later academic activ- ities. Important benefits include an awareness of what a language actually is Can organized sys- tem of meaningful sounds and the visual sym- bols used to represent the soundsD, a sympathet- ic understanding ofthe people who use the lan- guage and the culture they have developed, practice of a mental discipline not offered in other courses, and mastery of a valuable tool for further learning. CHD Mrs. Parker tries to oversee the students as they work in the classroom.

Industrial Education QAQ Mr. Wilford Hudson. Mr. Hudson, who is in charge of the industrial arts department, teaches architectural drafting and graphic arts. He also coordinates the l.C.E. program Industrial Coopera- tive Educationj. We believe that our industrial edu- cation program here at Eisenhower High School should assist each individual regardless of his so- cio-economic background, in an educational pro- gram leading to a useful and fulfilling career. The program must be geared toward providing career education leading to real career opportunities and employment. It should be designed to improve the understanding that young people have of the world of business and industry and the skill required to choose and pursue a chosen field of work. CBJ Mr. Krueger waits for a response from a student. CCD Mr. Corman checks over his students' papers. CD7 Mr. David Corman. Nlr. Corman teaches general metals, power mechanics, and electricity. QEQ Mr. Marion Cordes. Mr. Cordes teaches machine wood and electricity classes. CFD Mr. Cordes looks over the progress of his students in his record book. QGJ Mr. Fred Krueger. Mr. Krueger handles the CWT pro- gram QCooperative Work Training programb in which many students are enrolled. CHD Mr. Hudson exhibits his sense of humor as he talks with his stu- dents. The lndustrial arts curriculum is so designed to permit students to gain experiences and knowl- edge on a exploratory nature that will qualify a stu- dent to advance to an area vocational center where he can enter an intensive training program in a specific vocational area.
