A.F.S. Exchange Student This is the greatest pleasure in my life to appear in this book beside my all friends. My name is.Taaj M. Naaseree. I was born on February 4, 1954 in Kabul, the capitol of my country, Afghanistan, Asia. The Kabul city is larger than Decatur in size and my country is about one tenth of the United States with the population of more than seventeen million. Ninety-nine and one-half percent of people are Moslem and they speak Darri and Pashtu Ctwo official languagesj. Afghanistan is a neutral and Constitutional Monarch. Eisenhower High School is quite different from my school and all schools in Afghanistan. One of the greatest differences is the separate schools for girls and boys. It is the first time l have studied with girls in one school. Girls wear black and white colored' uniform. The second difference is the amount of courses for one year. We are required to study fifteen courses: Algebra, Arabic, Biology, Chemistry, Dar- ri, Economic, English, Geography, Geology, History, Logics, Pashtu, Physics, Sports and Theology every year. Some of them change every year. The third big difference is the schedule. We study five hours a day 17:45 A.M. - 12:45 P.M.J, six days a week Cexcept Fridayj, four weeks a month, and nine months a year CMarch 22nd -- Dec. 23rdJ. Each course is studied two or three times a .week and P.E. once a week. We don't change classrooms during the day and the teachers go to every classrooms to teach. , lt is the first time l have studied with both boys and girls in one school, chosen courses, and enjoyed the schedule.. ' Eisenhower High School is the best and largest school in size I have studied. I have found all the teachers, students, and other school members very kind, friendly, and lovely. l'm very happy I have made many lovelyfriendsinthis school. . V Taaj Nasseree 15
