BOARD OF EDUCATION The Northern Area Joint School System is now in its thirteenth year having been established on January 20, 1953. At that time it resulted from the joint agreement between the Farmington Township, Pine Grove Township, Sugar Grove Township, and Sugar Grove Borough school boards. Since then it has become a jointure between two member districts, the Farmington-Pine Grove Merged and the Sugar Grove Union districts . This internal consolidation has reduced the number of directors to the present number ten. Since its inception, the Northern Area Joint School System has made remarkable progress. The completed up-to-date facilities, personnel, equipment, and instructional standards are irrefutable evidence of the competence, self sacrifice and vision with which its directors have served their community. They have built an enviable record in their dedication to North Area. Two vastly important changes now face Northern Area, both of them the result of the Reorganization Act passed by the State Legislature. First, the present directors will be our last. Northern Area will become a part of the single Warren County Unit as of July 1, 1966, and at that time all present county school boards will be replaced by a new county wide board. The second change will be the disappearance of all presently existing district lines in the county and the resultant inclusion of Northern Area in the county district. From then on, the name of Northern Area may well be used to designate only a specific attendance area. To progress, we must experience change -- this we recognize as fact and for this reason our directors have favored the inclusion of Northern Area as part of the larger reorganized school district. It is but another step along the way that Northern Area has already come and will continue to progress. Even so, we shall always be proud of the system our own directors have built and we are confident that it will measure up to its commitment.
