Golf Team, coached by Mr. Harry Martin, finished off the season with a 2-4 record in the White Pine Conference, and 4-11 in overall competition. The nine members of the team were John Anderson, Bill Crinzi, Mark DeGroat, Tom Priestley, Terry Rombalski, Dave Varnish, and Dean Weber. Even though they lost their top two members during the middle of the season, Terry Rombalski and Dave Varnish, the team witnessed a very successful season. 27

The Varsity Golf Team ended its season with a 12-8 record. The team placed 5th in the conference match and 8th out of 21 at regionals. Capturing top honors was senior Steve Brady, who broke the school record with a round of 66. He also had the lowest season average with 74.5. Coming in 2nd in conference competition and 2nd in regionals he had an excellent season. Junior Jay Grybowski was voted most improved player and camein first inthe White Pine Conference. Coached by Jim Benjamin, the team improved greatly from last year. The Eisenhower Girls’ Basket- ball Team, under the leadership of first year Coach Bob Ryan, soared to its best season ever, finishing with a fine 18-4 win-loss record. Seniors Claudette Charney, Susan Laundra and Cindy Ponichtera led the mighty Com- manders in both points scored and rebounds. The female Commanders, play- ing a tough “тап to man” or “рег- son to person” defense, finished as Co-Champions of the White Pine Conference with a 9-1 record in conference play. Their most satisfying victory was a 46-33 trouncing of the MacArthur Generals on the Generals’ home court. Saginaw High’s Trojans provided the toughest competition in the District A Tournament staged here at IKE. The “Commanderettes” fought bravely before going down to defeat 52-40 in the final game.
