The Varsity Golf Team ended its season with a 12-8 record. The team placed 5th in the conference match and 8th out of 21 at regionals. Capturing top honors was senior Steve Brady, who broke the school record with a round of 66. He also had the lowest season average with 74.5. Coming in 2nd in conference competition and 2nd in regionals he had an excellent season. Junior Jay Grybowski was voted most improved player and camein first inthe White Pine Conference. Coached by Jim Benjamin, the team improved greatly from last year. Coach Bill Stocker saw his team devistate the John Glenn Varsity squad 7-0, only to lose to them by the same score two weeks later. The Commander Netters also dumped Midland Northeast 6-4 and 4-3. A strong performance by Junior Julie Eaton was rewarded br being chosen most valuable player. Junior Barb Jahnke and Freshman Lyn Kartz also showed outstanding skills. Golf Team, coached by Mr. Harry Martin, finished off the season with a 2-4 record in the White Pine Conference, and 4-11 in overall competition. The nine members of the team were John Anderson, Bill Crinzi, Mark DeGroat, Tom Priestley, Terry Rombalski, Dave Varnish, and Dean Weber. Even though they lost their top two members during the middle of the season, Terry Rombalski and Dave Varnish, the team witnessed a very successful season. 27
