Coach Bill Stocker saw his team devistate the John Glenn Varsity squad 7-0, only to lose to them by the same score two weeks later. The Commander Netters also dumped Midland Northeast 6-4 and 4-3. A strong performance by Junior Julie Eaton was rewarded br being chosen most valuable player. Junior Barb Jahnke and Freshman Lyn Kartz also showed outstanding skills. The Girls Varsity Tennis Team struggled their way to an 8-9 season record, then surprisingl took 3rd place in the Class regionals. Coach Jim Teal stated that the season went just about as he expected. Sophomore Lisa Barber really came on strong by winning 1 singles against MacArther twice. Lisa compiled 11 wins and 51 most valuable points, and was also chosen most valuable player. Juniors Cheryl ood and Jeanne Beatty were voted most im- proved players. Senior Captain Jeri Beatty should be recognized as holding records for most wins with 27 and most valuable points with 87. Eisenhower salutes the rest of their seniors, Debbie Burns, Sandy Graebner, Betty Jo Harshman, Maureen Sullivan, Sally Meyer, and Melanie Paik for their solid performance. The Varsity Golf Team ended its season with a 12-8 record. The team placed 5th in the conference match and 8th out of 21 at regionals. Capturing top honors was senior Steve Brady, who broke the school record with a round of 66. He also had the lowest season average with 74.5. Coming in 2nd in conference competition and 2nd in regionals he had an excellent season. Junior Jay Grybowski was voted most improved player and camein first inthe White Pine Conference. Coached by Jim Benjamin, the team improved greatly from last year.
