Ike Freaks Ovt? Marcy Galinski talking with a cookie (Shawn Curbey) and a pig (Beth Baldwin) Ann Brisbois decides to act her age. 106 “Out to the Out-house” by Julie Rawls and Amy Brown. There were many strange faces around Ike on its second annual Goblins Day. Over 100 students changed their images, from the usual dress to cookie costumes and even a coffin decor in order to raise money for UNICEF. The most exciting part of the day was the auction that was con- ducted in the gym. The students auctioned off the chance to hit their favorite faculty member right smack in the face with a tasty cream pie. The goblins practically tripled their last year’s contribution of $150.00 raising a total of $399.78. They all worked together making the day a huge success. The setting for the 1976 Constitutional Convention was the Saginaw Civic Center. Elem Eleven Eisenhower students par- ticipated along with 137 other high school seniors from 19 area schools in a tribute to the American Becentennial. The main objective of the con- vention was to write their own ver- sion of the United States Constitu- tion, following the basic ideas of our forefathers. The seniors par- ticipating from Eisenhower were Jeri Beatty, Karin Colling, Robin Elder, Teri Fowler, Diane Molesky, Mike Perry, James Rosa, Laurie Smith, Mare Smith, Kathe Tessin, and Mark Warba. The Constitution was divided into four parts, and given to four committees to revise or rewrite. The committees then presented the revisions to the entire group at the convention. The students then voted to accept or rebuke the revi- sion, discussing why or why not, just as it would be in an actual con- vention. The entire event lasted three days, and ended in an even- ing dinner. This was just one way the 1976 seniors said, “Нарру Birthday America! ” Kathy Tessin and Teri Fowler discuss a proposal. This was enacted with taste, ‚though the audience was not always courteous. The three female leads were Margaret McGoldrick as Karen White, Meg Sarantis as Martha Dobie and Pamm Sweet as Mary Tilford, the spoiled child. Other cast members were Karen Colling as Lily Morton, Lori Davis as Amelia Tilford with Guy Zimmer- man as the male lead, Dr. Joe Car- din. The plot centered around a spoiled little girl who thought she wasn't treated well enough at school. She was responsible for many of the problems including the closing down of the school and the libel suit which led to the suicide of Martha Dobie (Meg Sarantis.) Karin Colling remembers how it was in the old days of theatre. Karin Colling praises Pamm Sweet. The set was complete and the play began. Oliver had finally arrived! Coached by Miss Ruth Ann Sowle and Ms. Cindy Brandon, the play “Oliver!” captured four huge audiences’ attention. The orchestra was conducted by Mr. Dave Michelson. Costumes were made by Carol Brunner and Patty Lawrence. The play centers around the story of young Oliver (Les Bravender), an orphan who es- caped from a workhouse headed by the cruel Mr. Bumble (Tom McNalley). He is befriended by the Artful Dodger (Dan Borcier) and taken into a band of pickpockets with Fagin (Phil Lowe) as the head thief. When caught by the police, not for stealing, but for simply looking guilty, he is on his way to the adventure of finding his long lost grandfather. They changed their style of marching to corps style, and entered two marching band competitions, one at Reed Ci- ty, and the other at Bridgeport. Although they scored low, between 20 and 40 points, in both competitions, it was good for their first year in marching in such an event. During the winter months, the concert band played one concert a semester plus entered into Concert Band Festival. A few band members participated in Solo and Ensemble competition.
