Bringing Back Family Life pf' ' Mmmm Mmmm good! an an W: Audi? What should l make today? ln Home Economics, students are taught many things involved in making family living successful. Subjects varied from family relations to food and nutrition, and covered housing, furnishing, and home management. Home skills such as cooking and sewing were also taught. Pupils often practiced cooking, and the 400 hall was often filled with the aromas of a home-cooked meal. Students were advised on how to make a balanced meal look and taste appetizing. Being well groomed and healthful living are considered important factors in Home Economics. In Child Development, juniors and seniors take care of small children. Working with children teaches students much more than a book could. ls this how Julia Child got started?

Q Espanol rangais Every year the foreign language classes are becoming larger as students realize their importance. During the year, the for- eign language department won many rib- bons at various foreign language festivals. Contests in poetry, spelling, culture, as well as pastry making, singing, and dancing were held for students of all languages. Terri Kondik and Missy Trammel manage to find some humor in French class. This year the Spanish classes visited Spain. In eight days the touring students enriched their knowledge of Spain's culture and history. A new course offered at Eisenhower this year was Latin. Although no longer spoken, Latin helps us to understand other lan- guages. tif ,! L The foreign language lab is equipped with maps and magazines to help make learning fun. 2 , as-i ,l .
