The Close-Up trip to Washington this year was enjoyable to everyone that went. Before the group left to Washington they raised 5465.00 by working, getting sponsors, or con- tributions from their parents. The participants appreciated Coach Thomas's hard work and effort that went into making the trip a successful one. Along with a tour of the city, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Capital, they also went to briefings, seminars and group discussions. The meetings all delt with current politi- cal issues. Along with the meetings there were seminars which were held by Senators, Congressmen and other politi- cal figures. Not only was the trip very educational, it was fun also. There was six inches of snow on the ground, when the group arrived. lt snowed once while they were there and it was a real treat for a lot of students that had never seen snow before. The Close-Up trip was a lot of fun and everyone had a good time. . , 'rirlr if Eric Bassett daydreaming while he overlooks the Platomic.
