Pi' w- pprhv' , J' it ..- as Our Proudest Day , was Blue lsland Community High SchooI's theme for the dedication of the newly built campus building. On October 23, 1950, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, then President of Columbia University, honored Blue Island by being the dedica- tion speaker at the ceremony. An estimated 6,000 persons attended the hour long dedication. In 1962, awsecond school, H.L. Richards, was added to District 218 and Blue Island Community High School was named after General Eisenhower. 1975 marks DDE's 25th anniversary. During this time, many changes have occurred. The most recent one is the addition of a third school to District 218.
