102 HONORED STUDENTS Mr. Manning, Virginia Carman. Having a band member selected to attend the Northwest Band Festival was quite an honor, not only for B.E.H.S., but also for the student, Virginia Carman. Applying for the Northwest Band along with high school students from five other states, Virginia was selected on the basis of the audition tape which she made in November. Leaving Eielson on March 27, via air, Virginia and Mr, Manning arrived in Missoula for five hectic days of tryouts, practice, and finally, the Festival Concert. One word said about the trip and the Festival encompassed Virginia's feelings and this was TREEee-mendous. B.E.H.S., was very proud to have Virginia chosen as the first student to ever represent Eielson in Northwest Music Festival.

Selected to represent Eielson this year were David Carrico, Bass, Danny States, Bari-Saxg and Virginia Carman, flute. The honored students who were chosen to participate did an outstanding job of represent- ing Eielson. The Alaska All-State Choir and All-State Band members are chosen each year from hundreds of applicants that apply to represent their respective schools.
