ar f sr loo spirit with freierrrisbip , Never-to-be forgotten were the extra activities which were so much fun. It all began last July when Claudio came, closely followed by a seige of Welcome-to-Effingham parties. And then it was fall and time for the first home game. Rightfully, the seniors led the way with a soc-hop afterwards, Before long .it was Homecoming and Queen Kati took her place in the royal procession. Christmas just over the hori- zon came swiftly and E.H.S. celebrated separately and jointly. Va- cation didn't last long, you made your resolutions and then were back in school with a myriad of activities confronting you. Wasn't the Carnival the greatest ever? And with the strong winds and the soft rains predicting spring came a new surge of excitement. The prom was in the offing and you had your last fling of organized frm. You knew that school was not all work, but it also had its lighter side. Special games called for special means of demonstrating enthusiasm and school spirit. Here delighted students thronged in an all-school walk-out headed by the cheerleaders and pep band. The team was assured of the loyalty of their best fans as they adjourned to the gym for a rousing pep session.

contributed to your school life Effingham High School was a world of big operations. A personnel of more than three score cgo-operated in the endless performance of duties that were as evident as the shine of the floors to the enticing aroma of the noon meal. Many precious hours were saved for our of- ficials by the diligence of conscientious helpersg twice daily a half- dozen busses transported over half our student body to and from the high school campus. Board meetings ran into the wee hours of the morning and students were caught up in a flurry of activities inspired by hours of thought and preparation on the part of dedicated teachers and administrators. Mrs. Bolin, head of the high school cafeteria, sells a lunch ticket to a hungry junior, Wendell Harris.
