oemcmow we, the graduating class --Q of 1962, would like to ded- icate our yearbook to two of the most dedicated teachers, Mr. Fox and Mrs. Spoon who are now retiring from their profession of teaching. Mr. Fox has been an in- dispensible asset to Edwin Markham. He has taught here .:.., ffmuu- ' r V --- ... ....-1--,- 1 I zsfi' B 'S for the past twelve years. His job in school consists of teaching metal and electric shop to the boys, as well as once being a woodshop and drafting teacher. His wry humor and easy-to-get-along with personality enlivens all faculty functions. TSP' TA ,sn 2 29 1 J -423, I ,,,,,f KJ U Mrs. Spoon, who has been a seventh grade con- ferencing teaoher at Mark- ham for the past eleven years, has contributed much to the welfare of our school. Teachers, parents, and students have been in- spired by her subtle humor and generous, considerate attitude. Traveling, one of her favorite hobbies may soon become a reality for her. BY Linda Laney

ADMINI TRATIQN . js' ':f,,,,u, , 'WJ PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE A history in pictures of the many activities which took place during the 1961-62 school year will enable students to recall some of the high lights as they peruse this memory book in fu- ture years. For the sev- enth grade it was the beginning of their Junior High careers, marked with new surroundings they soon began to establish them- selves as a group of am- bitious students. Eighth graders were in the mid- dle but voiced their op- inions when the campus was closed. Ninth grade students were anxious to begin their last year but were cautious when dis- cussing the future at Willow Glen and Lincoln High. while there were many highs and some lows during the year as a whole we look upon 1961-62 as being another fine year at Markham in this twelfth year of its existance. A spirit of cooperation and understanding for the best support by all was manifested in our wel- fare drives, student body elections, noon sports program, and Turkey Bowl game to mention a few of our activities. However, the students never did lose sight of the importance of high academic standards for which Markham is duly proud. Because of this recognition we are sure those leaving will give a good account of themselves wherever they at- tend high school. 3
