HI-Y CLUB The Hi-Y. under 'rhe guidance of Mr. Don Lewis and Mr. Don Afkinson has developed info an oufsfand- ing boys' club af E. H. S. The Hi-Y has sponsored one major all-school affair, fhe Hi-Y Mixer Parfy, which has become an annual affair here af school. The organizafion ioined fhe Hi-Tri in a discussion of boy and girl problems. This proved fo be a greaf success. Wifhouf fhe excellenf cooperafion of bofh sponsors, fheir officers, and fhe members of bofh clubs, fhis affair would nof have been possible. The Hi-Y has increased in membership fhis year, which is one sfep foward making if fhe besf club in fhe council. ,This acfive membership has made if necessa.ry fo have a Hi-Y cabinef which advises fhe officers and assisfs in fhe planning of meefings. So far fhere has been one social affair in fhe Hi-Y fhis year. This was a very successful hayride where everybody had a good fime. This delighfful affair was held af Mr. Lewis' counfry home near Alfon. The meefings run in discussion from boys' social problems fo having a speaker fo falk fo fhe club. The sfrongesf fwo classes in fhe Hi-Y are fhe Freshmen and Sophomores oufnumbering fhe Juniors and Seniors by quife a margin. Therefore, we are building up a club fhaf in fhree or four years will excel in scholarship, sporfsmanship and Chrisfian' living. HI-TRI LEAGUE Wifh fhe aid of our sponsors, Miss Elsie J. Sloan, Miss Grace Cunningham, Miss Ella Helm, and Miss Nellie Alexander, our Hi-Tri fhis year has succeeded in sponsoring many worfh while acfivifies for all fhe sfudenfs of E. H. S. The Hi-Tri is fhe largesf organizafion open fo all girls in school. To begin fhe school year, fhe Hi-Tri sponsored an informal inifiafion for fhe new members af a big wiener roasf and bonfire in fhe parking lof. Nexf came fhe Kid Par+y when fhe girls discarded fheir dignify, broughf jumping ropes, dolls, and fheir sis+er's foys fo help fill fhe evening wifh enioymenf. ln February, fhe Hi-Tri fook on fhe roll of cupid by spo.nsoring fhe Sadie Hawkins Parfy. The girl asked fhe boy, boughf fhe fickefs, made him a corsage of preposferous ifems, called' for him, and paid fhe bills of fhe evening. The lasf social funcfion fhe Hi-Tri sponsored was fhe formal candlelighf insfallafion of officers for fhe incoming year. The Hi-Tri is divided info four groups according fo classes, each group having ifs own officers. Once each monfh during acfivify period, fhe individual groups meef. Each group sponsors a ioinf program fo which all girls in school are invifed. These ioinf meefings were held in fhe gym and included a panel discussion, a play, a sfyle show, and a program honoring our mofhers. The Hi-Tri Council is fhe governing and guiding agency of Hi-Tri.
