With an enrollment of near l,OOO pupils in these two schools and the First Ward in l895, the city of Edwards- ville was in need of further expansion in its schools for the accommodation ofthe pupils. The Board of Education in that year was composed of W. F. L. Hadley, president, E. P. Greenwood, seretary, Dr. E. W. Fiegenbaum, E. J. Jeffress, W. D. Harnist, Alonzo Keller, and AA. Suppiger.
