MR. ALEXANDER SUPERINTENDENT A jolly laugh—a friendly word—yes, we mean our own superintendent of schools, Mr. Alexander. Supervising the entire Edwards-ville school system is quite a large job, but under Mr. Alexander's competent guidance, all four schools have been kept running smoothly. MR. WOOD PRINCIPAL Completing his second year here at EHS, Mr. Wood has proved to be a well liked and capable principal. He has expertly managed all problems that the school has presented, and at the same time, has gained the confidence and admiration of all EHS. MR. LOVE DEAN OF BOYS Watching over and keeping up with our EHS boys is really quite a job, but Mr. Love, dean of boys, fills the position well. He is well liked by everyone, and his helpful advice is greatly appreciated by all the boys. Geometry classes and the Hi-Y are also under Mr. Love's supervision. MISS SLOAN DEAN OF GIRLS A true and understanding friend can always be found in our dean of girls, Miss Sloan. With a friendly smile and a helpful word she continues to mother” all her girls here at EHS. Miss Sloan also teaches English and is sponsor of the Senior Hi-Tri.

Eeck, President, Harry Hanser This is the body behind the school system of our city, composed of seven members with the purpose of furthering the educational facilities. At the present time the board is very much concerned with the aiding of the war effort and has introduced several new subjects to our curriculum with that interest in mind. It is also deeply concerned with the problems that will confront the educational system in the period following the war. The members of the board are as follows: Mrs. M. L. Burroughs, Mr. R. C. Cunningham, Mr. John Eeck, Mr. Harry Hanser, Dr. W. B. Cox and Mr. E. J. Ballweg. One new member of the board is Mrs. M. L. Burroughs, who is very much concerned with the extra curricular activities becoming a regular part of the curriculum. It is her belief that these activities are needed to round out the education of the American Youth. The board will lose the services of its oldest member, Mr. R. C. Cunningham, when he retires this year. He has served on the board faithfully for the the past sixteen years. Also retiring this year is Major Clyde Fruit, who is serving in the United States Army. Major Fruit has served on the board for the last six years and his services have been of great value to the school system of this city. 10
