A new beginning....new friends, new teachers, and new responsibilities were waiting for us. For most of us, that year was a long one, but the green soon faded and we moved on up the ladder to become Sophomores. Everything was moving smoothly until our school was condemned. We suddenly found ourselves without the study hall and library. This brought a lot of excitement to our community and school. After this it was time for our Junior year. It was then that we saw a big change! The arrival of our new principal, Mr. Bock. Most importantly, our school was slowly deteriorating. Most classes were held in our new TCB (Temporary Classroom Building.) The year ended, but we knew our school probably would not be there when we returned in the fall. Fall came and we entered the TCB. as Seniors! Our goal: to make it the best year ever. When we arrived at school, we found a few new faces. There were Coach Hart, Coach Stevens, Coach Niccum, Mrs. Kelsey, Mrs. Nelson, Mr. Dozier, and Mr. Smith. Our school spirit was better than it had ever been. Thanks to the coaching and determination of the players, our school felt the excitement of winning. We suffered the cold, heat, rain, snow and the walk from the gym to the TCB, but we all managed to make the very best of it. After graduation we will walk out doors that are much different than the doors we entered. As Freshmen we were young, immature and carefree. As Seniors we are more mature and responsible. We have all faced challenges in the past four years, and we have met those challenges resulting in the accomplishments of many goals. Although the school building we started with is gone, our memories of our high school years will always remain. Memories are something that no one can tear down. Good Luck Graduates! ALBION FLOWER GIFT SHOP 107 W. Main 618-445-3673 Albion, IL 62806 HIGHLIGHTS Chris Rotramel picks one off in a losing effort to the Red Hill Salukis. The Lions weren’t exactly the Bears but we did play with pride and conviction. Every game began with a belief that we could overcome the odds; several times we did almost pull it off. Once we were striving for an upset of 10th ranked Eldorado, but a final drive was stopped short when a Jeff Gillard pass was knocked down by an Eagle line backer. The student body would like to wish next year’s team the best and ask that they give their best. If for no one else, for themselves. All pictures on this page courtesy of the Times Advocate. The Lady Lions, what more can you say? There are just no words to describe the season they had. Extraordinary. awesome, these words hardly size up the success our spikers met with this year. For the second year in a row, the Lady Lions fought their way into the Supersectional, and for the second straight year they played a private Catholic school by the name of Breese Mater Dei. But unlike the previous year, the Lady Lions caused the Knights a ton of trouble. In fact, Edwards out-played their opponents in almost every stage of the game. But, the breaks weren’t with the Lions on that night and somehow Breese beat us in three exceptional games. The I ady Lions were ranked as high as 14th in Class A volleyball in the 1985 campaign and here is some of their record breaking 35-3 season IN REVIEW Brooke Hortin displays the technique that earned her the honor of being the Lady Lion’s most accurate server. It was a lot of work but it was worth it in the end. Practices were hard, they were fun, too, because if you enjoyed what you were doing then you wouldn’t have minded getting hot and sweaty. Everyone isn’t perfect, as some of our audiences found out! (One routine was memorized in one night.) We did have a few bad days. Practices were held in garages and living rooms since the school’s facilities wer- en’t open to us. We enjoyed being on the squad this year. We were a team and we worked together well. We all became better friends and leaders because of it. There were some trying times but we pulled through them. We hope everyone enjoyed seeing us at half-time. We had lots of fun performing.
