The 1983 summer season was one of typical successes for the Edwards Marching Hornets. The band participated in fifteen parades between May and August and competed against other high school bands in ten of those parades. The results of this competition against bands from much larger school districts are as Six 1st Place Awards Two 2nd Place Awards One 3rd Place Award One 4th Place Award The Hornets played two musical selections in 1983; Invicta, a spirited, Spanish style march, and Maneater, the popular tune by Hall and Oates. In addition to its exciting music, the band was well known for its precision drum section, sharp rifles, and flashing flags. The band was directed on the street by Miss Tina Youngs who was chosen 1st Place Drum Majorette at the St. Lawrence County Fair. The staff for 1983 were: Daniel Mosher — Director with Assistants, Sandy Mosher, Pam Carr, Carrie Stoffel, and Julie Youngs.
