DEDICATION This year’s Hornet is dedicated to three former teachers who have guided us through many of our years at our beloved Edwards Central School, Mrs. Manie Hurley, Mrs. Mary Noble, and Mrs. Katheryn Fuller. Mrs. Hurley attended the State University of New York at Potsdam and taught at Harrisville and the Talcville schools before coming to Edwards in 1957. Mrs. Noble went to the State University of New York at Pots- dam and taught in three different rural school districts in the area before coming to Edwards Central in 1958. Mrs. Fuller was educated at Keuka College and the St. Law- rence University, and taught at Hermon before coming to Edwards, where she taught two or more generations of local families. ROBERT LOPEZ My name is Robert “Bunny” Lopez and I come from Toulouse, France. I am the son of Lennie and Patricia Zeller and the brother of Wesley Zeller. Like you know, I come from the “Old World” and since I arrived at Edwards in August, I have had a very good time. I would like to tell you a little bit about my family back home in France. My father, Jose Lopez, is a carpenter for a big com- pany. My mother, Josephine, is a housewife. I have two sisters still in school, Isabelle who is 11 years old, and Alice, who is 16 years old. Another sister Marie, who is 20 years old, is working in a bookstore. She is a graduate like my brother Jose who is work- ing as a pipefitter for another company. We all live in a big city in the south of France called Toulouse, with a population of 500,000 people. You people of this small town are very nice to me and I appreciate that. I enjoy a lot of new activities: soccer, bowling, hunting, fishing, trapping, “Bingo,” snow, your woods and the maple syrup. I won’t forget you nor will I forget the pretty girls of Edwards. “Merci beau- coup.” “Thank you very much.” Robert Lopez CYRIL WAUGH This summer I lived in Santpoort-Noord, Netherlands. The Netherlands is north of France and borders West Germany. I stayed with the family Tibboel. They made me feel very much at home. My father was a Dutch Exterminator (Mortician) and my mother was a part-time student. I had two host brothers, Henk, age 16, and Hans, age 14, and a host sister Hanny. While in the Netherlands I learned a lot about windmills, dikes, and some knowledge of World War II. I traveled to differ- ent areas learning names, places, happenings, and the language. I thank the Edwards A.F.S. Chapter and the community for their support for a tremendous experience which will last a life- time.
