Through efforts of every member of the band, we managed to raise the quota needed to begin our cam- paign. The final amount was added by many organizations and people of our town. We appeared in public in our new uniforms for the first time, on Memorial day under the di- rection of Mr. Robert Smith. Throughout the summer, under his direction and Mr. Glenn Goodale, our summer director, we impressed the north country and added victory onto victory. Traveling to the State Fair, we placed fif- teenth, best in the north country. Our drum major placed third in his competition. Mr. Smith retired from his posi- tion leaving it open to Mrs. Elizabeth Knott. Under her direction we hope to have many more successful appear- ances. Color Guard—C. Bullock, C, Soper, M. Conklin, J. My father works in the Bank at Leon and my mother is a dress-maker. My oldest sister is a teacher and the next one is attending the University at Leon. I am in my sec- ond year of Secondary School and my youngest sister is in her first year of Secondary School. When asked if I would like to apply for the A.F.S. Program, I was very proud. When I heard, on June 3rd, 1968, that I had been accepted, 1 was the happiest girl in Nicaragua. I had said in my application that I preferred to to to New York State, and that was where I was to be sent. I am so happy with the Gagnon family here in Edwards. It is a very friendly little town and I like E.C.S., my teachers, and classmates. I want to thank the A.F.S. Program, E.C.S., the Gagnon family, all other people in Edwards for making my year so happy. Some day I hope to return to Edwards, but if I don’t, I will re- member every one always. 26 $%$ SPORTS Front Row: Fullback Dale Freeman, Goalie Jan Lennox, Forward Craig Wood, Forward Roger Graham, Halfback Carl Soper, Halfback Robert McFerran, Fullback Larry Lashua.
