CLASS HISTORY In 1938 a class of fourteen students began their first year at school under Miss Margaret Sullivan. They were: Dorene Lytle, Frank Noble, Donald Davenport, Gail Fuller, Clinton Hendricks, Myron Lewis, Kermit McGill, William Sprague, Stanley Donaliski, Joyce Audibert, Lucy Schwerdfager, Betty White, Joan Arnold and Ann Bleau. In the second year we had 14 students: Dorene Lytle, Frank Noble, Donald Davenport, Gail Fuller, Clinton Hendricks, Myron Lewis, Kermit McGill, William Sprague, Joyce Audibert, Lucy Schwerdfager, Bet- ty White, and Ann Bleau. Joan Arnold and Stanley Donaliski left while Harvey Hosmer and Wesley Brailey joined us. Our teacher was Miss Margaret Sullivan. Under Miss Ercel Cassidy, we started the third grade with 13 students. They consisted of Dorene Lytle, Frank Noble, Donald Davenport, Gail Fuller, Clinton Hendricks, Myron Lewis, Kermit McGill, Wil- liam Sprague, Joyce Audibert, Lucy Schwerdfager, Betty White, and Ann Bleau. Myron Lewis left while Leo Averill, Benjamin Gagnon, Kenneth Jones, James Smith and Freddie Patterson joined the class. As the class started the 4th grade with Miss Ercel Cassidy as teacher, it consisted of Dorene Lytle, Frank Noble, Leo Averill, Gail Fuller, Benjamin Gagnon, Clinton Hendricks, Kenneth Jones, James Smith and William Sprague. Arlowene Aldridge, Edward Bevin and Harold Manchester joined us. As we started the 5th grade under Miss Beatrice Boyle, we had 20 members: Leo Averill, Edward Bevin, Benjamin Gagnon, Clinton Hendricks, Harvey Hosmer, Kenneth Jones, Harold Manchester, Frank Noble, William Sprague, Wesley Brailey, Arlowene Aldridge, Dorene Lytle, Beulah Rice, Grace Rice, Wel- don Weir, Donald Spenser, Francis Roberts, James Wood. Paul Fenton and William Basso entered the class. When we entered the 6th grade under Miss Leah Noble the class consisted of Leo Averill, William Basso, Paul Fenton, Benjamin Gagnon, Clinton Hendricks, Harvey Hosmer, Kenneth Jones, Harold Man- chester, Francis Roberts, William Sprague, James Wood, Wesley Brailey, Gail Fuller, Kermit McGill. James Smith, Harold Whitmarsh, Weldon Weir were left in the 5th grade. We started the 7th grade with Leo Averill, Benjamin Gagon, William Basso, Charles Bowman, Wes- ley Brailey, Eddison Butler, Clinton Hendricks, Harvey Hosmer, Kermit McGill, Frank Noble, Francis Rob- erts, James Wood, Edward Bevin, Arlowene Aldridge, Hazel Hall, Dorene Lytle, Beulah Rice, Grace Rice, under the supervision of Miss Leah Noble. We started the 8th grade with 24 members. They were: Dorene Lytle, Leo Averill, William Basso, Charles Bowman, Wesley Brailey, Eddison Butler, Benjamin Gagnon, Clinton Hendricks, Harvey Hosmer, Kermit McGill, Frank Noble, Francis Roberts, James Wood, Edward Bevins, Arlowene Aldridge, Emma Fenton, Hazel Hall, Beulah Rice, and Grace Rice. Those that joined our class this year were: Nancy Given, Lucy Ingerson, Richard Sullivan, Paul Fenton and Uri Robinson. We started our 1st year in high school with 31 members: Leo Averill, Charles Bowman, James Wood, Wesley Brailey, Clinton Hendricks, William Hosmer, Arlowene Aldridge, Frank Noble, Francis Roberts, Uri Robinson, Richard Sullivan, Nancy Given, Emma Fenton, Hazel Hall, Dorene Lytle, Beulah Rice, Lucy Ingerson. The following members joined us at the beginning of the school year, Dorothy Matejcik, Caro- line Skeldon, Celinda Skeldon, Faye Doyle, Jessie Duncan, Julia Cahill, Glenn Kennedy, James Welch, Rob- ert Sullivan, Vernon Lutz, Marion Lutz, and George Bowman. Our homeroom teacher and class advisor was Mrs. Holmes. The class was organized shortly after school began with Leo Averill, President; Julia Cahill, Vice President; and Frank Noble as Secretary-treasurer. We entered the Sophomore class with 16 members: Robert Sullivan, James Hogue, Wesley Brailey, Leo Averill, Frank Noble, Charles Bowman, James Wood, Vernon Lutz, Hazel Hall, Celinda Skeldon, Grace Rice, Harvey Hosmer, Nancy Given, Dorene Lytle, Marion Lutz and Dorothy Matejcik. The class was organized as follows: President, Robert Sullivan; Vice President, Dorene Lytle; Secretary, Wesley Brailey; Treasurer, Nancy Given. Class advisor and home room teacher, Mrs. Rathbun. Our class reduced in size this year due to centralization in Clifton and Fine. We lost the following classmates, Julia Cahill, James Welch, Jessie Duncan. Others who did not return in September were: George Bowman, Emma Fen- ton, Beulah Rice, Uri Robinson, Glenn Kennedy, Lucy Ingerson. Since September Harvey Hosmer, Caroline Skeldon and Richard Sullivan have left during this year. We had a candy raffle to raise funds for our trip to New York. During our Junior year in high school, we had 14 members. They were as follows: James Hogue, Vernon Lutz, Frank Noble, Wesley Brailey, Robert Sullivan, James Wood, Leo Averill. Dorene Lytle, Grace Rice, Nancy Given, Marion Lutz, Dorothy Matejcik, Celinda Skeldon and Hazel Hall. We organized our class with Dorothy Matejcik as President; Frank Noble, Vice President; Marion Lutz, Secretary; and Grace Rice, Treasurer. The highlights of the year were our class rings, which we received early in the school year, and the Junior Prom. We also sold cards to raise money for our class trip to New York the next year. We started the Senior year with 14 members. They were Frank Noble, James Hogue, Vernon Lutz, Robert Sullivan, Wesley Brailey, Leo Averill, Dorene Lytle, Nancy Given, Grace Rice, Dorothy Matejcik, Marion Lutz, Celinda Skeldon, Hazel Hall and Lucy Schwerdfager. Our class was organized with James Hogue, President; Dorothy Matejcik, Vice President; Nancy Given, Secretary; Dorene Lytle, treasurer. We finished raising our money for the senior trip by selling cards and having square dances. The highlight of the year was our class trip to New York with Miss Iaria.

SEWIOIR CLASS WILL MISS McGILL—A new Ford so Lyle Hughes won’t have to pay so much income tax on the money he gets from her. MISS BRAYER—A marriage certificate. MRS. HOLMES—A blue lead pencil so there won’t be so many red marks. MR. TERRY—A larger Varsity squad next year. MISS IARIA—A new room away from the Music Department. MISS AKAM—A larger language class next year. MR. McFARLAND—Some new Physics Books. MISS HARTFORD—Some new ideas for entertainment for her beaus. MRS. WOODMAN—We leave a pack of playing cards so she won’t have to steal the senior’s, also a new foot pedal for the bass drum. MARGE CASSIDY—Shorter working hours. FRESHMAN CLASS—Hopes that they all continue the next three years together and have as much fun as we did. SOPHOMORE CLASS—A little less conceit and a little more compatibility. JUNIOR CLASS—Our ability to raise money for their Senior trip. —Lucy leaves Jimmy Smith a clock. Better wach the time Jim; your girl friends look rugged next morning. —Grace Rice and Nancy Given will Shirley Mantle a blank birth certificate with space on for Sally Simmons’ name. —Dorothy and Marion leave Joanne Watson in charge of the Gouverneur lads. —Ezra leaves Francis Roberts some of his wit. •—Dorene leaves Larry Brown some of her punctuality. —Frank Noble leaves some of his bravery to Gail Fuller and his fan mail to the basketball team. —Jimmy Hogue wills Clinton Hendricks some of his boldness. —Wesley Brailey leaves all of his love to Janette Chapin. Too bad Betty. —Hazel Hall leaves Louis Zaluski some of her quiet ways. —Leo Averill leaves Arland Bullock his position as hall patrolman. —Vernon Lutz leaves Harold Aldridge his recipe for eggnog, so he won’t have to disturb Miss Hartford when it’s time for his daily beverage. —Celinda leaves her height to Tommy Todd. -—We leave Carolyn and Susie good luck in their cheering next year. —To Kay Boulet we leave hopes of success wi.h her wit. Keep it up Kay. —Frank, Marion, Mickey and Dorene wish Mrs. Woodman better luck with her dance next year than she had this year. —We wish Betty Ann better luck for the Junior Prom next year. —We leave Joanne a few tips on “How to Behave” when she sees a cute boy. —Marion leaves the mirror in the Girls’ Basement to Carol Bell, (make good use of it Carol, because she won’t be there). —Jimmy leaves his ability to study to Ronnie Brayton. —Vernon leaves Kenneth Hartle his formula to do math. —Nancy leaves her excuse blanks to Shirley Mantle.
