The school year 1948-’49 started out very fine With Edwards centralized for the first time The football trophy the boys did capture And from those shields they did get a rapture The cafeteria was started late in the fall Which displeased the students not at all Then the seniors did the elections foretell When Dewey for President they did not sell The basketball season started out very well Until we met Clifton-Fine when we did not do so swell Then Mrs. Webb felt she had to resign Mrs. Fuller to substitute, did not decline In December the grades did brighten the season With a Christmas operetta-they had good reason The January Regents came and went And we had a black list of evil intent Then the next month the students went out on a strike This, neither the Board nor some of the teachers, did like This winter we didn’t have much snow And the seniors never did put on their show Then came the play-offs, which we lost Just two more cups is what it cost In the sectionals, it seemed almost a sin To get to the finals and then not to win But the boys back a trophy did bring They were best in their class-let the bells ring Mrs. Smith did Edwards Central School leave For a bigger school, we did perceive So the Board hired Mrs. Boulet To rescue the band, we really can say

On March 30th which was a bright day In a sugaring afternoon, the pupils had their way On Good F riday A.M. the seniors set out For New York but they weren’t allowed to shout The Easter vacation by did slip Especially for the seniors on their trip Since all year books have to be sent out in time We can’t write out the rest of this rhyme Class Poem Now that school days are over And graduation draws near The very thought of leaving Clouds our eyes with tears. Our school days have been happy And their memories will linger on The friends we have made through the years Will remain in our hearts long. We hate to leave Edwards Central A place which has become so dear And the very patient teachers Who have taught us through the years.
