A zest for living, an enthusiasm for the profession, and an edu- cational background enriched by travel have made Mr. Packer an integral part of our school's success. Mr. Packer, a member of the educational fraternity Phi Delta Kappa, received his B.A. in Ed. from Toledo University and his M.A. in guidance and psychology from Ohio State University. Satisfying his desire to travel, Mr. Packer, accompanied by his wife who teaches Commercial Art at Waitc- High School, has traveled to the Caribbean Islands, to all but three of our states, to Mexico twice, and to Europe six times. Always broadening the horizons of his life, in 1050 he made a tour around the world by freighter and repeated this pleasant experience by plane in l957. Endeavoring to share these happy moments and exotic experiences with others, Mr. Packer extended his teaching be- yond the halls of Libbey to the University of Toledo where he gave accredited and illustrated lectures on his travels. ln addition to his success here at Libbey as an instructor in draft- ing, Mr. Packer has designed since 1926 more than a hundred small homes and buildings in Toledo. A valuable contribution to our city was his plan for the Trail Medical Center. His great knowledge of architecture has been shared with others in many articles and lectures throughout his career, Distinguishing Mr. Packer from the other men on the Libbey faculty is the lact that he is the last to retire among those who were here when Libbey first opened its doors. During his thirty- seven years as a teacher at Libbey he has proved his tremendous versatility and willingness to serx e. The students at Libbey who for many years benefited from Mr. Packers vast knowledge and experience are truly appreciative of his loyal service and extend to him many wishes for future happiness. Recognizing his myriad talents and achievements at school and at the First Presbyterian Church in Maumee, we, the Senior Class of 1960, are proud to dedicate this edition of the lllclitzfz to our respected teacher, Mr. Edward Packer. 7960

,lr-.. MR. KIEFER Devotion to a pattern of living that is based upon a love of God, a sense of responsibility, .ind a desire to be of service to others is the keynote of Mr. Kiefers life. In order to prepare for a life of serving others through teaching, Mr. Kiefer earned his B. of Ed. degree from Illinois State Normal University and his M.A. degree from St. Louis University. Climaxing his many years of summer travel, Mr. Kiefer and his wife in 1958 visited Hawaii where they enrolled in graduate courses at the University of Honolulu. The combined efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Kiefer cover ninety-one years of teaching the youth of Toledofa laudable record indeed. In addition to being a fine teacher during his years at Libbey, Mr. Kiefer has found time to lead the students in their extracur- ricular activities, The plaque he received from the Hi-Y when he retired as their adviser is a cherished momento of his twenty- nine years of service. Libbey could never have a more loyal booster than Mr. Kiefer who, from the beginning of Libbey's football history, attended every game until his illness last year. We sincerely appreciate his steadfast loyalty and support. Mr. Kiefer's life of service is not limited to Libbey but spreads to his personal life as well. As an active member of Park Con- gregational Church, he has been a valued and respected Sunday school teacher. An example of his deeply religious attitude to- ward life is his annual practice of reading the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. To our au revoir and good luck we wish to add our thank you and God bless you, Thus, with respect and admiration, the Senior Class of 1960 dedicated this volume of the Ealliafz to our friend and teacher, Mr. George L.
