Dedication It is an honor for the senior class to dedicate the 1958 Edeliafz to a distinguished Libbey faculty member whose brilliant accomplishments have vitalized school and com- munity for forty-six years-Mr. Roscoe C. Baker. Quick- ened by Mr. Baker's dynamic scholarship have been scores of students, not only at Libbey, where he has been Chair- man of the Department of Social Studies, but also in Weston and Bryan, Ohio, where he served as superin- tendent and principal. Among his achievements are out- standing contributions to numerous professional organiza- tions, sponsorship of the Debate Club, the Quill and Dag- ger Literary Society, the United Nations Club, and the Par- liamentary Procedure Club, and services to the community ranging from organization of the Highland Park Teen Town to leadership in the City Managers League and the United Nations Association. Truly the pebble cast into the water symbolizes his ever widening influence. Such a man profits the world. Roscoe CC.. Baker

lE. lL.. Bowsher Thank You It is hard to say good-bye to a trusted friend, and so we are not going to say good-bye to Mr. Bowsher. We have a notion that he will keep a helpful eye on us anyway. A twenty-year habit is not easy to break. After all, although he has now retired as superintendent of the Toledo schools, he is not leaving Toledo. In further service to the community as manager of the Toledo Automobile Club, he is merely demonstrating the flexibility and vision that have always distinguished him as an educator. We are not say- ing good-bye. What we sincerely want to say is thank you. Thank you, Mr. Bowsher, for the vitality, common sense, and good humor you have brought to our schools and our Community.

Members of Toledo Board of Education Left to right seated Mr Thomas Bretherton Mrs. jane Kuebbeler, and Mr Grant Murrxy Standing Mr Xlifayne Shawaker and Mr. Raymond D. Baldwin president Reaching the top in 0ne's chosen profession must bring deep satisfaction. But success has to be earn- ed, and it is no accident that Mr. Philo C. Duns- more has now been accorded the key position in the Toledo public school system. Before his appointment to the superintendency in January of this year, Mr. Dunsmore taught in Woodufard High School, was supervisor of social studies, and served thirteen years as Mr. Bowsher's assistant. He thus brings to his new post a thorough un- derstanding of the educational problems and goals in Toledo. He knows us, and we know and re- spect him. There could be no finer beginning. We are confidently expecting many productive years ahead under his guidance. Superintendent Philo C.. Dunsmore 6
