The Edmore Vtkmgs wmth ten lettermen returmng from last year s d1str1ct charnpxons opened thelr 1950 51 basketball season by overpowermg the Cando Cubs on the Edmore floor 51 25 The hard court men started out at a terrxflc pace gettmg sxx stralght vrctorxes before losmg to Northwood on the latter's floor 41 47 The next Tuesday the V1k1ngs met St Alphonsus of Langdon on thexr home court and m a rugged battle went down to defeat for the second straxght txme Agam hlttmg early season form coach Peterson's athletes won the next 11 of 12 games Slghtmg for thexr fxrst county charnpxonshlp m ten years the Edmore team started cornpetltlon on January 36 by settmg the School for the Deaf asxde eo Z4 In the serrn fmals Starkweather was the second vxctory for the Vtkmgs at 56 42 The fmals proved to be qulte a thrlller w1th the St Mary s qu1nt fxnally gomg down to defeat 46 41 and Edmore bemg crowned Ramsey county cnampxons for 1951 Peterson had to reorgamze h1s squad m rrnd season when lost Jack Braaten 6 1 center The boys proved capable to the sltua tion by playmg brllllant ball the rema1nder of the season before losmg a heartbreaker to Larlmore 41 40 Senlors who w1ll be gone from he 1951 '54 squad are Robert Twaddle Alner Roseth Jack Braaten and Paul Novacek Our tram er Paul Arneson wrll also be gone Lettermen lookmg forward to another year of basketball under coach Clalre Peterson are Jerry Wavrm Joe Bxrx Jumor Freqe Lowell Landsem Rxchard Twaddle and Douglas Johnson Edmore also copped the county softball meet w1th v1ctor1es over Starkweather School for the Deaf St Mary s and Lawton Wlth the same baseball mne back as last year Edmore IS agam trymg for a berth 1n the state tourney whlch they accompllshed last season Two wms over McV1l1e and Langdon have started thmgs off on the r1ght foot Zo 1 ' . . . . -' 1 1 ' . . - 1 1 . . .
