Back This is the center's third year of service, but it is the first year that it's services have been available daily. This class is an elective for the 23 peer listeners. A peer listener is a person of one's own age or grade that helps you with your problem when you come down to the Student Service Center. These individuals have been through the required 40 hours training. The training took place at the Hoyt Conference Center at Eastern Michigan University. It seemed to improve the listeners skills in many areas, such as Active Listening, Empathy, Drug Abuse, Problem Solving and Eye Messages. This has been a good year for the center. Many students have used it and seem to be satisfied with the results They sometimes return to the center or even tell a friend about the help they received. We have been selling candy to get money built up in our account so we can return again this year to Eastern Michigan University for training. Appointments must be made in advance, or the student may come down with a pass from their teacher. The center is open first, second, fourth, and fifth hours. The room is 29A, so come down and see us.
