T? is Dawn Wilhelm, president of the June Class of 1960, placed the ring on the linger of Dorothy Davenport, president of the February Class of 1961. This was the highlight of the ceremony held by the February Class of 1961 to mark the occasion of the receiving of their Edmondson ring. The ceremony, planned by Mrs. Emily Beckwith and the class officers, was very simpleg but it impressed into the memories of the class members the day they received their rings. . T e Candle And The Ring The Spanish National Honor Society held its second initiation of new members. This society was formed to honor Spanish students who have made marks of 90 or over in Spanish for two semesters. This chapter of the society. known as Ruben Dario Chapter, was formed last year under the direction of Mrs. Ann Young and Mr. John Darcey of our Language Department. The society follows the basic creed and purpose of Edmondson: maintenance and production of good scholar- ship and interest in learning. The success of this society is shown by the growth in its membership year by year. EEZ.

At Edmondson. the link was the Student Council. Under the direction of Mr. Jack Lachman, the Council was divided into two houses. the Senate and the House of Representatives. The House of Representatives was made up of homeroom presidents while the Senate consisted of the respective editors-in-chief of the newspaper, the yearbook, the three class presidents, the president of the Varsity Club, an-d the Monitor Captain. The Student Council sponsored varied activities for both entertainment and education. It took care of securing a Christmas tree and decorating it. Through the Council, students of Edmondson not only helped in the running of our school but also benefited the community by sponsor- ing good citizenship. The president of the Student Council was Uta Fellechner and the vice-president was Richard Rose. Marilyn Burnett was secretary and Arlene Richards was treasurer. MONITORS The order that prevailed in our halls was not accidental. lt. came about, as all good things do. through planning. Most of us remember that first day at Edmondson when it was as dillicult to find our way about as it is in 3 maze. To keep our visitors and parents from feeling this wa Y when they come to our school, we had the monitors. Sponsored by Mr. Davis, this club not only guided our visitors, but also hel ed i th halls.
