taff of Edmondson One of the amazing phenomena of American life is the faith of the people in education. The vast majority of the youth of our nation receive formal education in high school. If they are to play a part in the complex and rapid- ly-changing world of today. the high school must help to prepare them for that task. What we are striving to accomplish at Edmondson is to make our school the finest possible exemplilication of democratic living. and an agency for gaining the Wisdom, knowledge. and skills which are demanded by modern civilization. Flexibility is necessary in meeting the needs of individual pupils. linder the leadership of supervisors and department heads. and the cooperation of teachers. modilication and changes in courses of study are taking place constantly, and new materials are being devised. The study of Russian was added to Edmondson's curriculum last year, and a course in distributive education will be started in the fall. Plans are also being made to offer courses in advanced chemistry and biology. The process of living together and working together emphasizes the need for educating for dynamic and intelli- gent citizenship. The primary aim of Edmondson High School is to provide optimal development of each pupil regardless of intelligence level. or socio-economic status. The closer unification of our students and faculty as they work together toward common goals. the expansion of our schools facilities in order to bring about improve- ment iz. the instructional program. the extension of extra- curricular activities. and the development of school spirit are important achievements of Edmondson High School during the past year. ,, mi' - f '40, , .... , a ur-- CARROLL S. HANKIN. Principal MR. RANKIN contributing to an assembly program. X The Administrative Dear Class of 1960, This year marks the third in Edmondson High School's brief existence. Many of you in the graduating class came to us when our doors were first opened in September, 1957. You have helped to create the high ideals and the fine spirit for which our school has already become noted. What Edmondson has achieved in so short a time has been to no small extent a reflection of your enthusiasm, courage, and hard work. Each graduating class which follows you will he richer for the foundation that you have laid for the future. We on the administrative staff are deeply appreciative of the contributions you have made to Ed- mondson. lt is our earnest hope that each of you achieves the goals in life that you desire, and that those goals will reflect credit upon yourselves and our school. Most sincerely, CARROLL S. RANKIN, Princzlpal Margery W. Harriss and Jerome C. Denahurg, Vice-Prz'ncz'pals 42 ff 1 W' BJMMHJ' ? f l We iff y z f ' liill ' V if
