E A tr, 4 Q-. . f NERO NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD! Louis von Lossberg, Mike jessop, and Mr. Darcey wore the latest thing in togas to the banquet. With a motto such as ours, Excellence De- mands Sacriiice, it is no wonder that our assem- blies have been distinguished for their high qual- ity and dignity. Outstanding performances by the band and choir were given on several occasions. Scholarship and athletic awards assemblies were looked upon by the students as the time when they were given recognition for their part in hold- ing high the standards of Edmondson, physically as well asscholastically. Foreign language studies have flourished here, too. One of the high spots of the year was a Ro- man banquet, expressing all the pomp and cere- mony of an evening in the glorious city. Attired in their best togas and sandals, the Latin class experienced what the wealthy Romans enjoyed on a night out. Wrestling matches viewed by reclining spectators, soft music played by slave girls, and typical Roman refreshments created an atmosphere of the old Roman world. The inauguration of a class in Russian and various activities of the Spanish Honor Society gave evi- dence of the growing interest in foreign lan- guages. Quite a contrast to the beautifully decorated cafeteria at our dances were the janitor's own decorations in the hall. XiVe must admit that the students handled themselves around the buckets as well as they did on the dance floor. Everything has its imperfections, and our new building was no exception. XVhen rain fell outside, it also came down inside. lVe went splashing by the art rooms dodging the jars. buckets, and tin cans. Although our roof leaked, our school dances weren't washed out. Filled with Christmas spirit. students Hoated among the snowflakes at the Snow Ball and the Holly Hop, The Spring Fling and Sweetheart Dance, which were sponsored by the junior and sophomore classes, were very success- ful. Most of the iunior class anxiously awaited and prepared for the Junior Prom, and they were rewarded for their efforts. Another memory that will never leave us is the odor of Miss Skiryen's stink plant on the First Hoor. There were many little incidents that brightened the days at EHS and made our school life more enjoyable. Foot Work DETOUR . . . road slippery when wet.
