BEATING IDA JOHNSON TO THE LEAP, Mrs. Webb snags the ball and scores for the teachers. ' K' r 576' A ,WV ,. 7431? f' ww -:cyl J 'rev' A Q2 , ., .v,,,...- 1 'Di EV TOTTERING OUT onto the basketball court are Mrs. Bul- ler, Miss Tann, Miss Rapp, Mrs. Kase, and Miss Tarntino. IO All work and no play would have made school pretty dull. The teachers were quite confident that they could still play a fast basketball game, but the scoreboard told a different story. While we were busy in school, Congress took action on many measures. Alaska's and Hawaii's dreams of statehood finally became realities this year. Batista fled from Cuba as Fidel Castro and his band of rebels gained control of that Carib- bean island. Gigi beat Auntie Mame to an Oscar. Peter Gunn and 77 Sunset Strip gave the adult westerns a run for their money. Everybody did the cha cha cha, even Alvin and his chip- munk friends. As spring and the symptoms of spring fever appeared, students daydreamed in class, but our teachers didn't let up on the homework. We somehow managed to survive the rigors of hard work and to find moments for relaxation. Fancy GETTING TO THE BOTTOM of the problem. mtg.-. . .

Eager football fans with big appetites keep Charles Miller, Mr. Norton and ames Smith busy Thought VV'hether in school, at home, or on a date we eat-eat-eat. In school, we had only thirty min- utes for lunch because of the new study period in effect during the last fifteen minutes of every per- iod. This set-up was unpopular with slow eaters and students who liked to relax at lunch time, but it did provide study time for those who wanted to take advantage of it. Our cafeteria looked as clean and sparkling at the end of the day as it did the first period because students cleaned off their tables and had them checked before leaving the cafeteria. As the year flew by, we watched the bulletin board in the cafeteria for news of our coming games, dances, or year activities. XVe not only ate in our cafeteria, but we also attended classes there during the first, second and seventh periods, bought supplies from the school store, and danced at night in our transformed ballroom, CHOW TIME Vit '5 1 N 9

Quite a contrast to the beautifully decorated cafeteria at our dances were the janitor's own decorations in the hall. XiVe must admit that the students handled themselves around the buckets as well as they did on the dance floor. Everything has its imperfections, and our new building was no exception. XVhen rain fell outside, it also came down inside. lVe went splashing by the art rooms dodging the jars. buckets, and tin cans. Although our roof leaked, our school dances weren't washed out. Filled with Christmas spirit. students Hoated among the snowflakes at the Snow Ball and the Holly Hop, The Spring Fling and Sweetheart Dance, which were sponsored by the junior and sophomore classes, were very success- ful. Most of the iunior class anxiously awaited and prepared for the Junior Prom, and they were rewarded for their efforts. Another memory that will never leave us is the odor of Miss Skiryen's stink plant on the First Hoor. There were many little incidents that brightened the days at EHS and made our school life more enjoyable. Foot Work DETOUR . . . road slippery when wet. Rainy weather always brought about this situation. EVERYBODY LOVES TO DANCE. Our cafeteria was the scenerif many gay dances this year. fgl up U., Ii.,
