In school, we had only thirty min- utes for lunch because of the new study period in effect during the last fifteen minutes of every per- iod. This set-up was unpopular with slow eaters and students who liked to relax at lunch time, but it did provide study time for those who wanted to take advantage of it. Our cafeteria looked as clean and sparkling at the end of the day as it did the first period because students cleaned off their tables and had them checked before leaving the cafeteria. As the year flew by, we watched the bulletin board in the cafeteria for news of our coming games, dances, or year activities. XVe not only ate in our cafeteria, but we also attended classes there during the first, second and seventh periods, bought supplies from the school store, and danced at night in our transformed ballroom, CHOW TIME Vit '5 1 N 9

Practicing the skills learned in our home economics classes, four junior girls won second place in the Seventeen table-setting contest. If you need a new dress, make it is the slogan of our ambitious girls. The boys in our industrial arts department learn skills in printing, and designing or build- ing many useful objects. After sitting on hard chairs through math, Eng- lish, physics, or French, we are glad to get to gym to stretch our muscles or to plunge into the pool. Using our new baseball diamond, the football, lacrosse, and soccer fields as well as our gym and pool, many students developed new skills and muscles. Our art and music departments add a delight- ful touch to our school life. Many of our talented students take music major or band, but all enjoy singing or listening to music during music minor periods. Edmondson's Roualts and Rembrandts create beautiful paintings, sculptures, and models. THE NEW LOOK can be achieved easily and inexpensively if you know how to sew like Grace Ritenour, Mattie Williams, Audrey Freedenburg, Rose Wright, and Coralee Keil. Food for IS IT GREENWICH VILLAGE? IO All work and no play would have made school pretty dull. The teachers were quite confident that they could still play a fast basketball game, but the scoreboard told a different story. While we were busy in school, Congress took action on many measures. Alaska's and Hawaii's dreams of statehood finally became realities this year. Batista fled from Cuba as Fidel Castro and his band of rebels gained control of that Carib- bean island. Gigi beat Auntie Mame to an Oscar. Peter Gunn and 77 Sunset Strip gave the adult westerns a run for their money. Everybody did the cha cha cha, even Alvin and his chip- munk friends. As spring and the symptoms of spring fever appeared, students daydreamed in class, but our teachers didn't let up on the homework. We somehow managed to survive the rigors of hard work and to find moments for relaxation. Fancy GETTING TO THE BOTTOM of the problem. mtg.-. . .
