ittens Have Winning Season Vw 5,51 A husky sophomore squad, some forty strong, compiled a winning season and were impressive in the improvement shown from one game to the next. Under the tutelage of Coach Merle Blevins the Kit- tens had a winning season including victories over Shoreline, Lake Washington, Seattle Prep, and two over Snohomish. The highlight ot the season for the Kittens was their performance in the varsity game at Marysville. 7 ,.-....-rf. f- 3 ,sg-gr' , ,gg V Inserted into the game as a unit, the sophomore eleven recovered a Tomahawk fumble and marched 65 yards to score a touchdown in varsity competi- tion. The Homecoming Court included, from left to right: Walt Sherstad, Princess Francine Soady, Ernie Glante, and Queen Sharon Charles. Placing the crown on the queen's head was Fred Shull, football captain. Next to Fred is Princess Laura Bergamasco, and George Anderson, Tiger Rhapsody set the theme for the i959 Homecoming Dance. Guests, surrounded by little tigers in football uniforms, danced to the enjoyable music ot the Wotchmenf' Radiant Queen Sharon Charles was escorted by Ernie Galante through the goal posts in the catetorium to her golden throne with a large purple E background. Another highlight ot the dance was the- initiation of the letterwomen neophytes. This was enjoyed by all, including the many alumni that were present. The Homecoming Dance of i959, sponsored by the letterwomen, was a great success. Serving an active month as general chairman of the 1959 Homecoming Dance was Sally Matthewson. W Q
