ali a'i Sees Record Attendance More than two hundred and fifty couples attended the 1959 Girls' Club Tolo, making it the largest in the history of Edmonds High. Elaborate tropical decorations of Bali Ha'i enhanced an atmosphere of the South Sea Islands. The Cafetorium was set in a festive island mood with palm trees, tropical plants, and a mountain backdrop casting a lavender hue on the dance band. A main height of interest was a pond stocked with goldfish and floating orchids. The Social Center's decorations contributed to the theme with a grass hut, tropical birds, and nets draped from the ceiling. Many fascinated couples were found gazing at the colorful goldfish and the delicate float- ing orchids in the tropical pond. At right are Kaye Bailey, Mary McGibbon, Sharon Charles, Carole Jenkins, Mary Cackrum, and Betty Brant decorating the pond for the dance. 9

Pepsters Stir School Swaying grandstands and sagging bleachers were the indication of iubilant school spirit this year. Thrills, tension and excitement succeeded in raising the roof during the games. The cheer leaders, in their zesty outhts, were always bubbling over with vim and vigor. They were frequently being teased by our tiger mascot, Benny Bengal and his mis- chievous tiger cousin, Barney. Last but not least, were those unforgettable cute legs that belong to our peppy song leaders as they sang and danced their way into the hearts of all Edmonds High School.
