WORK AND PLAY All work and no play makes of Jack a dull boy. ' Likewise, for most students, a program devoted entirely to study would make school a dull place to be. All life is a series of experiences which help to determine the kind of people we shall be. Failures and successes, happiness and heartaches, health and sickness, all affect character. I his work and play which we do together makes a lasting impres- sion upon each one of us and should assist us in becoming more thoughtful, more useful men and women. I o us, there is no doubt that our curriculum, our varied activity program, plus excellent student and teacher leadership, make the character of our school whole- some and vital. G. MASON HALL. Long after you have put aside your books and forgotten algebra problems, Spanish idioms or scientific formulas, your thoughts will come back to high school days. In retrospect, you will recall the tense moments of a try-for-point in a football contest, the last thrill-packed minutes of a championship basketball game, your first appearance on the stage, the crush at your favorite haunt after the Junior Prom; yes. even the time you were sent to the principal’s office. Friends you worked and played with on your school teams, annual staff, the school paper, in chorus, class plays, campaigns for student and class offices, the pleasant chats at odd moments: these are the things which will remain and return to mind time and again. I trust you have lived your school and student life to the fullest—that you have served willingly and entered zestfully into all that you could. If you have, the pay- ment will come in later life as a pleasant afterglow, in the feeling that you with your friends were a real part of your school and its time. GLEN G. HILL, Superintendent « 6
