We have been active in many group events such as debate, dis- cussion, and one act plays. In individual speech work, Edmond speech students have captured many firsts at several tournaments and repeatedly placed at all of them. The main aim of the speech department this year has been diversity. Ov Making the best record of any school in the nation at the National Speech Tourna- ment in Denver, Colorado, were Loy Fer- guson, Vic Jackson and their coach Mrs. Smith. Here are two ot' Edmond's debate teams ra tic'n p c l 9 These are the other teams who are also debating for a tournament. They are: Bob Thomas and Pat each other. During the football sea- son we had an exchange pep assembly with John Marshall. For this assembly we took the skit Dragnet , In the first part of March the Bow Wows presented 14 iackets to the lettermen. Then the first part of May we presented about 14 more. Royal, We believe in the future of farming, with a faith borne not of words, but of deeds. Our accomplish- ments in 1954 have brought us local, state, and na- tional recognition. In the fall our first competition was the township fair, followed by the county and state fairs, and climaxed by our trip to the American Royal at Kansas City. ln the spring we exhibited livestock at the Enid district fat stock show and at the state spring stock show at Oklahoma City. Here we gained the honor of being the first chapter in the history of the show to exhibit champion and reserve champion steers of one breed. We also received the Shorthorn trophy for having the best group of five Shorthorn steers. With the completion of our broiler proiect and our annual parent and son banquet, we come to the end of one of our most successful years, under the help and guidance of our instructor and FFA advisor, Mr. Leon Duffle, Roy Brown and Ted Capron giving lloy's steer a shave and haircut at the Enid district ht Mech show.
