This building, which was erected in 1930, was named for O. W. Jeffries, who was at that time a mem- ber of the school board. Four coaches instruct physical education classes for both boys and girls. U MAIN ANCE T0 J EFFRIES HAL L THE HOME ECONOMICS cottage was erected in 1939. This building, which has all the con- veniences of a modem home, houses home eco- nomics classes and the offices of the superin- tendent, his secretary, and the board of edu- cation. Most of Edmond High School's social activities are held in the large reception hall. This year the principal's office was completely redecorated, s faculty lounge was added, and new lighting facilities were installed. Besides the fifteen class rooms, this structure also houses the auditorium. LDING ADMINISTRATWN Bm Edmond HM: Sclmol Z!! 69 i , ' oi-'WEEE as GP p .1 Iver Q A ' fi xy --w :Q N ., 2 C . Tnllnnt, Dr. Merle Glas I gow, F. E. Harper, Clyde Smith, Neal Fisher, Joe D. Hurt My P anmhg Commfkslbn Mm, William B. Tallam THE BOARD or EDUCATION is an unpaid but impor- tant servant of the public. Much time and thought are given by it to the educational needs of the community. Regular monthly meetings are held and many special meetings are attended. Perhaps the most important func- tion of the Board of Education is its selection of a super- intendent of schools, who serves as its executive officer. Working with and through the superintendent the Board of Education elects all employees. It adopts courses of study, purchases supplies, acquires school sites. erccts buildings, submits budgetary needs to County Excise- Board and makes rules and regulations for thc manage- ment of the schools. It also acts as a judiciary body in evaluating the results of the educational program carried out by the superintendent and his staff. Officers of the Edmond Board of Education are Fred E. Kirkland, president, and F. E. Harper, vice-president. Other members are: Joe D. Hurt, Clyde Smith and Neal Fisher. Mrs. William B. Tallant, who is secretary to the superintendent, is clerk of the board. P? Although this is his first year at Edmond High School, Dr. Merle W. Glasgow, who came here after serving eleven years at Bartlesville, has become very popular as superintendent of schools. With his friendly smile and willingness to help, he has wrought numerous improvements in the Edmond Public schools. Dr. Glasgow received his A.B. degree in Business Adminis- tration from the University of Michigan. He received both his E.D.M. degree in School of Administration and' his E.D.D. degree from Oklahoma University, Dr. Glasgow has also done graduate work at the University of Oregon. You're wanted in Mr. Pippin's office. In any other school a call to the office might lnean trouble, but in Edmond High School it means friendly help and advice. Since coming to Edmond in 1944 after serving at Kingfisher for 17 years, B. C. Pippin has made an enviable reputation as a friend of the students and a progressive town and school leader. Mr. Pippin received his li.S. degree from Central State Col- lege and his MS. Degree from Oklahoma University. As a promi- nent tncmher of the Central district of the flkl8ll0lll8 liducational Association, Mr. Pippin has served on the state executive lroard six years. -A V-Q. l 4 TED ANDERSON H. The most important one this year is the yearbook which is made pos- sible by many outside activities such as, Mardi Gras Ball, Negro Minstrel, Faculty Basketball Came, and others. In addition to these projects the Council seeks to promote'a better understanding between the student body and the faculty. The Student Council, in short, is the organ- ization by which the pupils and teachers work to- gether to build an increasingly better Edmond High School.
