The other twenty-seven pupils have come from towns all over the state of Oklahoma and' even Missouri, Texas, Kansas and Nebraska are represented. However, there are only three pupils who have attended the Edmond public schools from the first grade. 'They are Pauline McPheeters, Bob Van Antwerp, and George Shaefer. The carnival on October 11, 1937 was the first event in the senior activities of 1937-1938. A very large crowd enjoyed visiting the night club, the fortune teller, the bingo stand, the house of horrors, the quin calves, a cake walk and many other exciting and interesting things. Climaxing the evening was the crown- ing of the Carnival Queen and King, Frances Earle Flesher and Bob Reeds, who were the senior representatives and winners of this contest. Then, to prove that seniors are not neces- sarily dignified all the time, they celebrated with a kid party at the Legion Hut, December 11. For the annual Christmas program, the seniors gave the play, Christmas Gift, be- fore the student body. Those who participated in this program were Lerae Richmond, La Veme Witt, Addie Lou Gecks, Barbara Macklin, Vida Cartmill, Martha Dean Harr, Pauline McPheeters, Jack Newman, Bob Van Antwerp, Melvin Rigdon, and Kenneth Aldrich. At the close of the program, the seniors spon- sored a Christmas tree at which time the pupils of Edmond high school exchanged gifts with Ralph Payne acting as Santa Claus. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hallum and Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Jones, class parents, gave a New Year's eve masquerade dance and watch party honoring the graduating class. On March 17 this class presented its annual play., Tomboy, in which sixteen students participated. This three act comedy aff, Q A R X-i t W? T ' ' v' was the story of a successful lawyer who had always wanted a son but was blessed with three daughters. This resulted in his beringing up his youngest child to be a tomboy who soon became a state golf champion. The title role was taken by Addie Lou Gecks, On Friday, May 6, the seniors were enter- tained by the juniors with a party at the Legion hut followed by a preview, College Swing, at the Broncho theater. All of the seniors took part in Class Night on May 23. The class will, poem, history, and prophecy along with a comedy skit supplied the audience with an evening of high entertainment. A heated race among three girls, Mildred Otto, Pauline McPheeters, and Addie Lou Gecks, for honors of Valedictorian and Saluta- torian was one of most interest during the last six weeks of school. Mildred's rating at the beginning of the race was 90.003 Pauline's was 894.643 and Addie Lou's was 89.28. Another honor given to one of the girls of the senior class was the A. A. U. W. award.
