We hope you who read this annual will find as much pleasure and satisfaction in reading it as We have found in producing it. We are proud of the craftsmanship demonstrated here, for it is a product throughout of our own shops, with the sole exception of the binding. We remember distinctly our freshman year. It was then that we first had the honor of joining the S. A. C., and of having a social chat with Mr. Coe. We were proud to be members of a school whose sports activities were so well known. That year Tech athletes suffered only one loss in football, took second place in crosscountry, and were the Interscholastic Champions in bowling, wrestling, and track. During our sophmore and junior years we continued to fight and win many additional honors. These years saw the develop- ment of the individual champions of today, in both athletics and scholarship. It was then that we were introduced to the plans which, if properly executed, would enable us to spend a few mom- ents each period enjoying a smoke or a cup of coffee. Unfortun- ately, this was the exception rather than the rule and the majority had to be satisfied with swiping lunches and throwing erasers in our classes. Now, as seniors on the threshold of graduation we look back upon these acts as foolish and unnecessary. We find ourselves fac- ed with a possible World War III and a grave realization that soon, many of our fellow classmates may be our fellow service- men on the battlefields of the world. Taxing our optimistic view- points to the limit, we are looking forward to a better world free from worry and strife, and we leave but three short words to the students remaining, Do your best l SSM LOUIS ACHILLE 18 Niagara St. SkubleS East Annex Dev. Edison went into the fourth quarter on the short end of an 18-7 score. Tech scored on an 82 yard pass-play and then proceeded to make good on an outside kick. After the ball was brought to East's 30 yard line, Jack Williams intercepted a pass, and the game ended with East High in possession of the ball. Mr. Benz was proud of his team and their spirit and also because they had enough guts to come back after two loses to obtain a -500 season aver- age. The team was one of the most spirited I have ever coached, said Mr. Benz, and he is sure Edison will have a good team next year. Back - Manager - Howard Mirch, Bob Keller, Paul Perdue, Mr. Mc Clumpha, coach Vincent Paolotto, Joe Vieira, Manager - John Perkins. Only one win against seventeen defeats was the record of the 1950-51 Tech court squad- However, Coach McClumpha does find some consolation in the fact that most of this year's team will be back and much improved next year. This, plus the fact that the reserves had a very good season, makes the outlook for next year much brighter. This year's team lacked both experience and height. Although the record doesn't show it, the team improved greatly toward the end of the season. Coach McClumpha's spirits are high because only Ronald Kiefer, Paul Perdue, and Joe Vieira will be lost by graduation. c FIRST HALF Edison ...... 42 Alfred Almond Edison ,.,,.. 33 Jefferson .,,,..,.. The team under the direction of Bob Lewellyn and Lee Stewart came through the year with three wins, one tie, and four losses, ending up in fourth place. Gordon-Smith led the scoring for Tech followed by Howie Mirch, Bob Brown, Bob Lewellyn, Lee Stewart, and Bill Howe. Our ace coach Mr. Spiotti, is looking forward to a much better season next year, and he is losing only five starters. Soccer Scores Edison .... 2 Monroe ,. Edison .... lr Marshall Edison .... After getting off to a bad start with losses to East and Madison, the team upset Monroe and beat Franklin. The next stop was Geneva and the sectionals where they were beaten by one point by Brighton 97-98. Leading runners for the Tech team were: Joe Paris, who was all- scholasticg Norm Buffordg Dick Taylorg George Stephensong Norb Minchg John Perkinsg and Jim Veomett. With only Taylor and Veomett gone the team still looks in good shape for next year because the reserves have runners coming up fast. Lead by Bill Camp, the reserves champ, they took second place. SWIMMING Edison, Monroe, and West ended this season in a tie for second place Edison lost a hard fought meet to Monroe and then was defeated by Mar- shall for Marshall's 101st straight win. In spite of the loss of three very good swimmers, Ralph Lucht, Bob Kesel and Tom Donovan, Edison came up with a fairly good team. Spurred on by Bonnett, Lane, MacLaughlin, Ventura, Veomett, and Osborne the team completed one of its best seasons in its school's history. A lot of this credit is due to Mr. James's fine coaching. Next year's team will have a strong nucleus around which to build a good team even with the graduation of John Ventura, Jim Veomett, Paul Braun, Charles Doyle, and Howard Beye. The nineth and tenth grade standouts were: Pat McElligot, William Wallock, Robert Kohlmaier, Walt Gay, Ken Wurger, Dan Weber, Ken Becker, and Edward Nichols. This year's edition of Edison's wrestling team loses only three seniors: Bill Howe, Bill Scally, and Bob Reddy. These fellows had fine seasons and will be greatly missed. Bill Howe was captain and did a fine job of keeping up a fighting spirit despite a rather poor season. I 1 9 W' ABQWLING Back-E. Kiessel, B. Heuther, R. Mundorff, E. Wheeler, L. Smith, R. Jermyn, D.
