Forly' i ,,,,,,,, Music Grgamzations This year lhe music deparlmenl' has had several changes in personnel. I+ has suffered a 'greal loss lhrough lhe promolion of lhree ol ils mosl capable leaders. Miss Wine- brighl, sponsor of lhe Girls' Glee Club, lefl' Edison lo become an assislanl supervisor ol music. Mrs. Engberg, who was wilh us for 'lour years, was appoinled head of The music deparfmenl al' Eolylechnic High School. Vaflwiie al Edison, she waslhe leader of lhe Boysl Glee Club, ,and she lell' a well lrained group of singers. Mr..Boucher, who organ- ized lhe bands and orcheslras, was a leacher al Edison lor len years. While he was here, his band won lirsl place in 'lhe annual band leslival al' lhe Coliseum in l935. ln I937, all lhe annual' P.-T. A. highschool loolball carnival, 'lhe Edison band was 'lhe only one hundred-piece band in lhe parade. 'Edison sludenls were very sorry 'rolose Mr. Boucher, buf lhey are sure he is doing lhe same fine worlc al Lincoln High School where he is now leaching. Mrs. Allen, who is now in charge ol lhe Girls' Glee Club, and Miss Gibson, who is lhe new sponsor of 'lhe Boys' Glee Club, are proving lo be very capable lead- ers. Mr. Wallis, lhe lalesl' addilion 'lo The music slaliljis in charge of 'lhe bands and orcheslras. Mr. Wallis formerly laughl' al Marshall High School. He has done some line workywilh 'rhe senior band .and lhe senior orcheslra. These organizalions haveiplayed for several assemblies lhis semesler. The Golden Circle inslallalion, lhe Chrislmas program: Com- mencemenl' Exercises, lhe Easier program, and lhe Feslival of 'lhe Lanlerns were a few ol lhe evenls al which lhe Glee Club ap- peared. The Armisfice Day program presenled by 'lhe ninlh grade social living classes was well given. The Thanksgiving program was very unusual. On December second Mr. Dannaldsorilgavei an inleresling discussion on deserl' life. He had some of 'rhe deserlj animals on +he srage. Anolher in'l'eresl'ing assembly was given, by. Mr. E. C. Waflson, from 'rhe California .lnsl-if l'u+e of Technology. He discussed liquid air and gave some inleresling demonslralions. The Chrislmas 'program presenled by lhe Music Deparlmenl' was'very'beaul'i'Ful. The Glee Clubs sangsChrisl'mas carols under 'lhe direclion of Miss Gibson, Mrs. Allen, and Mrs. Ferguson. A very amusing assembly program was presenied by 'Four real Swiss yodelers. They were exceplionally good and received much applause from rhe audience. CARL RUSSELL Stage Crew and Wizard The Srage Crew is an organizalion for senior boys who wish ro learn wood working, painling, and eleclri-cal work. The S'l'age Crew is owne of 'rhe mosl successliulof all school organizarions. li has saved 'Phe school several hundred 'dollars during ils exisience by building sers and by makingiihe srage properries. iq Much credif musf, be given ro Mr. Wilson 'for his splendid managemenl of The crew all ihese years.
