Our walls were brightened and the firedoors were built. The end of the year also brought the realization that 1982-1983 would be a year for changes. And changes there were, like the closing of schools and the revisions of boundaries. New policies created new experiences. and with the help of a new administration, we at Edison worked hard to adapt quickly. Another change at Edison was brought about by the addition of the magnets and the driver education program. New people were drawn to our school and everyone made new friends. 1982-1983 also gave Edison new sports. Our school changed, and within ourselves, we changed. We have grown and worked together and have made Edison High School the best! 18 19 Courage and Determination 20 1) The DavicJ Mack Family 2) Dermis on the basketball court 3) David and Marlys proudly watching their eldest son. Dennis, playing football for Edison 4) Another great kick-off! 5) Sno Daze King — Dennis Mack The 1983 Wizard is dedicated to David Mack and his family. The yearbook staff wishes to acknowledge the courage they have shown in the past three years. We have watched as they have endured great sorrow and anxiety. We have seen the bravery and hope the family has demonstrated in living their lives before us. What is most important, however, is the determination which has proven to be the main factor in David Mack's recovery. We. at Edison, would like to extend our wish of happiness for the futures of David. Marlys. Dennis. and Tommy Mack. Your courage and determination has given us all an inner strength. 21 A Change in Class Locations New Inspirations 22 Jay E. Anderson Christelle M. Audette Pamela R. Baker Gabrielle Balko Carlos A. Getting off to a shakey start, both Varsity and Junior Varsity teams met with early disappointments. The Varsity team, Coached by Mr. Chambers and Captained by Paul Polivka and Dennis Mack, struggled in the early part of the season and attained a victory against St. Paul Como Park. By early February the hard played games were by no means a drain on the spirited enthusiasm of the players. If nothing else, these games served to strengthen the determination of the team. They sponsored Teacher and Staff Recognition Day and every month they selected one Super Scholar from every class. The N.H.S. held a candy sale in Dec. and Jan., in which they sent part of their profit to the State Project, which is Leukemia. Mr. Wenzel and Ms. Boutsioukos, as the advisors, put in many hours working with the officers Lisa Hill, George Hadjiyanis, and Dave Beeksma. This prestigious organization ended the year with the annual Induction Ceremony. 1 150 4 1.) . . . discussing the issues. 2) N.H.S. — we're proud! 3.) National Honor Society Vice President.
